The Whitmore Fire is located on the Colville Reservation south of Omak Lake and west of Nespelem, WA. News Release August 10, 2021 Orient, WA - The Nine Mine Fire is located 4.5 miles south / southeast from Laurier, WA. This lighting caused fire started on Wednesday, August 4th and has burned approximately 139 acres of forested land. Acreage is changing due to mapping and not fire growth. Evacuations: As of 1:00 pm on Sunday August 8th the evacuation level has been reduced to level 1. Level 1 is Ready, in the Ready, Set, Go, all hazards evacuation system. Ready means get prepared, changing fire conditions can change evacuation levels and you may need to leave your home. This level 1 notice is for homes on Imperial Way and Sand Creek Rd.  Road Closures: Nine Mine Rd. remains closed.    Sunday’s wetting rains were very beneficial to firefighters working containment lines on the fire yesterday. Members of the incoming command staff will shadow the current team during the day shift and assume command of the fire at 6:00PM today. Mop up and repair work will be ongoing along the southern edge of the fire while the northern edge will be monitored, and action taken as needed. Islands of unburned fuel within the interior of the fire will continue to burn at times. It is not uncommon to see smoke within the interior of a fire until fall rains extinguish the last hidden hot spots. Inchelium, WA – The recent rain helped firefighters make good progress in direct hand line construction and were able to extend the contingency lines up Hall Creek Road. On the Summit Trail Fire, firefighters will continue to mop up inside the fire line on the western and southern flanks and anticipate completing direct line along the eastern flank of the fire within the next few days. A drying trend will continue throughout the week with warmer temperatures, which will increase fire activity. Crews will conduct burnout operations on the eastern flank of the Summit Trail Fire today between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. as fuels dry out. This is to combat further fire spread, and there will be visible smoke from these operations. These operations are well within the containment lines, and do not represent an expansion of the fire perimeter. Cedar Creek and Delancy FiresDaily Update August 10, 2021   Winthrop, WA — The Cedar Creek and Delancy Fires are burning on the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest and public and private lands within Okanogan County. These fires are being managed by Great Basin Incident Management Team 1.   Fire Information Line: Cedar Creek and Delancy Fires: 509-557-0740 (8:00 am to 8:00 pm daily)   Fire Weather: Much warmer temperatures return today, reaching the lower 90s. Humidity will remain low. The only cloud cover will be high cirrus sweeping overhead.   8/10 Smoke Outlook   Special Statement Highway 20 has reopened.   Fire Temperatures will continue to warm today with expected highs around the fires reaching the mid 80's to low 90's. Fire activity will increase this afternoon as temperatures increase and burning within the control lines is expected. Cedar Creek is 52,859 acres (+0) and 34% contained. Cub Creek 2 is 62,489 acres (+121) and 50% contained, Muckamuck is 1,062 acres (this is 150 acres smaller than yesterday due to better mapping) and 0% contained. Delancy remains at 223 acres.   Smoke Air quality has remained remarkably good given the amount of fire on the landscape in North Central Washington. Smoke will increase over the next few days with the warming temperatures although is not expected to reach unhealthy levels.  #BulldogMtnFire Update 8-10-21Bulldog Mountain Fire: Yesterday firefighters observed minimal fire growth and continued to make good progress establishing indirect and contingency fire lines. A break in the weather over the fire the last couple of days has helped crews with establishing a foot hold to work in very challenging terrain. Crews added a culvert and additional road material for an alternate route to access the east side of the fire. Heavy equipment continues to be deployed as it becomes available to assist with fire line and road improvement. Today much of the same type of work performed yesterday will continue. Motorists traveling on the Boulder Hwy should be vigilant and watch for heavy equipment and firefighters turning off and onto the roadway. There are 94 personnel assigned to the incident. After completing prep of the primary fire line, firing operations occurred in areas of unburned fuel between the southern fire line and burned areas to the north. Estimated size: 161 acres   Containment: 85%Today: Fallers completed the removal of snags and have been released from the fire. Hand and engine crews continued mitigation of roll out hazards, mop up and repairing containment lines. In many areas containments lines are covered with vegetation and water bars are installed to prevent erosion.  Hose lays will be left in place along the southern edge of the fire to support further mop up activity.  Back hauling of hoses, pumps, porta-tanks and other equipment continued throughout the day. Approximately 5000 feet of hose was deployed and must be cleaned, rolled and returned to the cache for use on future incidents.
