WALKER CREEK AND CHICKADEE CREEK FIRES - DAILY FIRE UPDATE SEPTEMBER 5, 2021NORTHWEST INCIDENT MANAGEMENT TEAM 12 Incident Commanders: Jeff Dimke and Bobby ShindelarThe Chickadee Creek Fire is located 15 miles west of Tonasket, Washington and the Walker Creek Fire is 13 miles east/northeast of Tonasket, Washington, surrounding Lake Bonaparte. The Incident Command Post at the Omak Stampede Grounds is closed to all but essential personnel. NOTE:  Closures remain in place for Bonaparte Lake Road, Summer Road, Diamond Belle Road, and Bunch Road. An area closure also remains in place for lands surrounding the Walker Creek Fire. These closures, as well as fire restrictions that remain in place, are for the safety of the public and firefighters. The forests are still very dry, and fires can easily start. Operations Resources from these fires will support local initial attack if new fires start. Firefighters continue to remove hoses and pumps from areas where they are no longer needed....

Schneider Springs Daily Update September 5, 2021Start Date: August 3, 2021 Cause: Lightning Size: 89,885 acres Percent Contained: 14% Resources Assigned: 837 resources Crews (23); Engines (39); Dozers (7); Air Resources (9); Other Heavy Equipment (28) Yesterday: Crews initiated firing operations with both Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS or "drones") and hand ignitions near Cliffdell, in order to secure the line along the northeast portion of the fire near Gold Creek. Firefighters continued to work on an indirect containment line utilizing the cliff bands near Edgar Rock to prevent the fire from affecting residential and commercial structures along the U.S. Hwy 410 corridor. Crews continued to monitor and light small backfires off of Bumping River Road to protect cabins in the area. Mop up activities continued along Bethel Ridge to reinforce the south-ern perimeter containment lines of the fire. Humo Se espera que hoy cambien las condiciones de los últimos días. El humo seguirá acumulándose en la zona, sobre todo en el corredor del lago, y con muchas probabilidades de neblina durante el día. Firefighters plan strategic burning operations to increase containment (Summit Trail Wildfire)

September 4, 2021 Acres: 46,750 acres   Start Date: July 12, 2021 Cause: Lightning        Containment: 55% Total personnel: 575      Location: 17 miles west of Inchelium Fuels: Timber (litter and grass understory), light logging slash Highlights: Firefighters are focused on securing containment lines in several critical locations around the fire area. Limited burning operations are planned in those areas that present the greatest threat for fire spread beyond constructed firelines. Under favorable weather conditions, crews will ignite vegetation to reduce the amount of fuel ahead of the main fire in multiple locations, including a small area northeast of Bitterroot Mountain and a second area heading west toward Lynx Mountain. Crews will place fire hoses and pumps along existing handlines and dozerlines to further secure these areas and prevent fire spread to the southeast. Twenty-five Mile Fire Update September 4, 2021 (Twentyfive Mile Wildfire)

Size: 15,967 acres  Total Personnel: 412  Containment: 37%  Cause: Under investigation    Yesterday: Cloud cover blanketed the fire in the afternoon but warm temperatures and continuing very dry weather resulted in active burning in pockets of unburned vegetation in the Twenty-five Mile Creek drainage in the northwest area of fire. That burning produced a smoke column that was visible to surrounding communities but posed no threat to containment lines. Helicopters dropped water on areas of active burning on the western edge of the fire to delay fire spread.   On the North side of the fire, crews continued mop-up operations to extinguish heat near fire lines around Communications Site 911 and from Utah Saddle to Chesapeake Saddle and Junior Point. Late in the day conditions allowed further aerial and hand ignition to add depth along containment lines toward Junior Spike. Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS or "drones") and helicopters assisted with aerial ignitions, dropping small incendiary devices that can light unburned pockets of fuel between the main fire and the perimeter. UAS was also used during the night to detect any spot fires outside the containment lines. Firefighters continued structure assessment in both the southern perimeter and Bumping River Road areas of the fire. Crews completed the indirect fire line on the northeast portion of the fire from the Naches River to the Rock Face and from the river up to Forest Road (FR) 250. Start Date: August 4, 2021    Cause: Lightning    Size: 13,314 acres    Containment: 74% Location: Approximately four miles northeast of Conconully Resources Assigned: 97 personnel Current Situation:  The northern perimeter of the fire is the primary area of focus for the resources on the incident, which remains hot with creeping and smoldering fire behavior. The fire crews are still mopping up the interior and exterior of the dozer line removing threats up to 150 feet from the fire edge. The suppression repair continues Middle Mountain road to clean downed trees and piling slash from suppression action is occurring as equipment becomes available. So, the air resources and hose lays are in place and supporting the mop up efforts.
