Summit Trail Fire Update 8-30 (Summit Trail Wildfire)

Inchelium, WA – Yesterday, the fire was active on the north and northeast flanks, continuing to back toward containment lines. A slop over along the northern edge occurred, requiring dozer and air resources working on containment throughout the day. A structure fire also occurred on Hall Creek road just outside of the eastern flank of the fire that spread to a half-acre in size. Firefighting resources responded and assisted the local fire department with containment. Firefighters worked to secure direct and indirect lines. Mop up and patrol continued around the southeast, south, and west flanks, with some areas moving into a patrol status. Today, crews will continue to reinforce lines along Hall Creek, on the northern edge of the fire. Firefighters will continue to improve direct and indirect fire lines, while assessing the need for additional dozer line to close the gap on the unburnt interior portion of the fire area to the west of Cedar Creek. Mack & Bulldog Mountain Fires update 8-30 (Mack Mountain Wildfire)

Kettle Falls, WA – Yesterday, firefighters conducted a burning operation on the northern flank of the Bulldog Mountain Fire. The weather and fuel conditions were optimal for the occasion and everything went well. Crews will continue to work on burnout operations today, with air resources monitoring and assisting where needed.  The southeast flank of the Bulldog Mountain Fire has shown active fire behavior with the warm weather that the fire areas are experiencing. Firefighters will continue to patrol and take actions to hold the remainder of the fire within containment lines. The removal of dangerous snags and chipping will continue along the South Boulder road and in the Davis Lake area to prepare these roads in the event that the fire moves out of its current footprint. UPDATEToday Yakima Valley Emergency Management and the Schneider Fire Incident Management Team discussed evacuation levels. After discussion it has been decided upon the following evacuation level updates: THE BELOW UPDATES ARE EFFECTIVE Monday 08-30-21 at 8AM Pacific Standard Time. Bumping River Road area is dropping from a level 3 to a level 2 evacuation (BE SET). From the intersection of Highway 410 and Highway 12 (the "Y") to Bumping River Road is being lowered from a level 2 evacuation to a level 1 (BE READY). Highway 12 area evacuations levels is remaining at a level 1 evacuation (BE READY).Yakima Valley Emergency Management would like to thank the Fire Crews and Incident Management Team for their efforts to get us to these reduced evacuation levels. Inchelium, WA – Yesterday, forest fuels continued a drying trend due to sunny and windy weather, as well as lower humidity which caused increased fire activity in unburned fuels.  The fire was active on the north and northeast flanks and continued backing toward containment lines. Firefighters worked to secure direct and indirect lines and conducted burning operations to improve containment lines. A small spot fire was detected outside the north perimeter in the Hall Creek area and was suppressed with air and ground resources. Mop-up and patrol continued around the southeast, south, and west flanks. Today, crews will continue mop-up and monitor the spot fire. Firefighters will also continue to improve direct and indirect fire lines, with ongoing preparation of contingency lines along roads in the Lynx Mountain area. Firefighters patrolled and took actions to hold the remainder of the fire within containment lines. Chipping of fuels and the removal of dangerous snags continue along the South Boulder road and in the Davis Lake area to prepare these roads in the event that the fire moves out of its current footprint. Tactical firing operations will occur on the northeast and potentially south of the Bulldog Mountain fire today. On the Mack Mountain fire, crews will continue to monitor and improve fire lines.
