Summary: The Northern Rockies Incident Management Team and the Oregon Department of Forestry Incident Management Team are in unified command of the Miles, Columbus, Snow Shoe, and Round Top Fires. The daily update will report only on the current active fires. The fire behavior on area fires will continue to be moderated by lingering smoke conditions until the inversion lifts mid-day. When this happens, there will be a noticeable change in fire behavior beginning around 3:00 p.m. Fuels remain receptive to burning and live fuels are drying ahead of seasonal norms. Miles Fire (31,544 acres, 12% contained): Firefighters have continued to make good progress on the entire southern perimeter of the fire, including the areas south of Elk Creek Road where the fire had spotted within the past week. EVACUATION ORDERS AND WARNING FOR THE HAPPY CAMP AREA For public health and safety due to wildfire, an Evacuation Order has been issued for the area south of the Natchez Fire, near the terminus of the South Fork Road (National Forest System Road (FSR) 17N32) and to include an additional residence in the South Fork of Indian Creek.On August 1, 2018, the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office issued an Evacuation Warning for all residences accessed by the South Fork Road (FSR 17N32...) and the Grayback Road north of the junction of the South Fork Road. The warning was issued as a precautionary measure and is still in effect. The Warning Area has been expanded to include all residences on or accessed from the Indian Creek/Grayback road from the intersection with Dolittle Creek, north to West Branch Campground.Residents in the Warning Area are reminded to be vigilant in the possible event that the Evacuation Warning is upgraded to an Evacuation

Kelly Mountain Fire UPDATE August 13, 2018 2100 PM Northeast Washington Interagency IMT Type 3, Team #1 Eddie Lewis Incident Commander For Immediate Release Republic, WA – Crews utilized dozers to establish preliminary lines around the fire, working primarily north of the fire perimeter. Historic blown down trees (wind throw) and snags on the southern edge of the fire created inoperable conditions for dozers. Special logging equipment (a feller buncher) aided fire crews in removal of snags and blown down trees. Two helicopters provided air support for fire line crews. Additionally, air support located two hotspots and along with crews on the ground successfully suppressed them. Kelly Mountain Fire UPDATE August 13, 2018 0930 AM Northeast Washington Interagency IMT Type 3, Team #1 Edward Lewis Incident Commander For Immediate Release Republic, WA – The Kelly Mountain Fire was reported at approximately 11:00am on August 11th and was a part of eleven lightning and storm related fires reported in the Republic/Curlew/Toroda area. Local resources from US Forest Service, Washington State Department of Natural Resources along with private contractors responded to the Kelly Mountain fire that grew rapidly due to strong winds and extremely dry conditions.
