Evacuation level lowered on Galice Creek Road. Due to the progress made along the northern edge of the Taylor Creek Fire, the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office has downgraded the evacuation level on Galice Creek Rd from a Level 2 to a Level 1. The Level 1 evacuation is expected to remain in place for the rest of the 2018 fire season. A Level 1 evacuation means “BE READY,” remain vigilant and stay informed on current events. Maple Fire Daily Update 08-16-18 (Maple Fire Wildfire)
Hamma Hamma, WA – Team 10 will transition fire management responsibilities to Western Washington Incident Management Type 3 Team under the leadership of Jim Shank at 6:00 am Friday. The incoming team will continue the longterm strategy of keeping the fire between Forest Road 25 to the north and Forest Road 2401 to the south. Team 10 would like to thank the local communities, businesses, and cooperating agencies along the Hood Canal for their patience and support during this fire suppression effort. The wildfire actively backed down the north side of Jefferson Ridge, primarily consuming ground fuels in a lowintensity understory burn. A small portion of the fire made it to the Hamma Hamma River where crews monitored fire activity and were available to respond if needed. The river is a natural barrier and FR 25 is a manmade barrier that has been brushed by crews and equipment, giving firefighters a primary containment line and a contingency line. Slightly cooler temperatures for the weekend. Moderate to extreme fire behavior is expected on local wildfires. Smoke Light winds this afternoon but likely not enough to push smoke out of the valleys. Expect very poor air quality through today and tomorrow due to smoke from both Canada and local wildfires. Poor air quality will continue through tomorrow. Safety The National Weather Service has issued an Air Quality Alert for all of Central and Eastern Washington. Under these air quality conditions, people should limit outdoor activities. Sensitive groups should continue to consult their medical providers about ways to mitigate smoke exposure. EVACUATION UPDATE from Jackson County Sheriff's Office Full press release: https://flashalert.net/id/JCSO/116576 Due to progress made by crews fighting the Miles Fire, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is further reducing evacuation levels in the Trail and Prospect area on August 15, 2018. The affected area includes only a few homes, plus uninhabited areas. The latest reduction means all homes in the Prospect area previously notified of evacuations are now reduced to a Level 1 “Be Ready” notification. A Citizen Alert notification will be sent today to advise residents affected by the reduced evacuation status. Evacuation and Road Closure Update - August 15, 2018 (Boyds Fire Wildfire)
Evacuation Levels: Currently, the Matsen Creek Rd. south to Kamloops Island is a Level 2. Matsen Creek Rd. to Boulder Creek Rd. remains at a Level 2. Highway 395 north is still one lane with a pilot car from Barney’s Junction to Kamloops. Highway 20 west remains closed and under a Level 3 evacuation. Many of the public have inquired about this portion of the highway. Although fire activity has diminished, much of the area remains at risk to the public due to danger trees and rolling debris from the fire. Public and firefighter safety is our highest priority. Fire officials will continue to assess the situation and as more information becomes available the public will be notified. A Red Cross Shelter has been set up at the Kettle Falls High School for any evacuees.Road Closures: SR 20 both directions from Milepost 337 Inchelium Road to Milepost 342.
