More Evacuation Advisories Reduced for Jolly Mountain Fire (9-13-17) Effective today (Wednesday 9/13), the Kittitas County Emergency Operations Center officially reduced the Evacuation Advisories in several areas affected by the Jolly Mountain Fire. All residences south of Bear Creek (and north of Lake Cle Elum Dam Road and SR 903) to Double O Ranch Road are now at a Level 2 advisory. Residents and property owners returning home are reminded to use extra caution on the roads, as fire personnel and equipment are still actively working and moving through the area. The Kittitas County Fire Marshal also advises that all propane tanks were shut off by the fire team’s structure protection group. The technicians placed a “lock out-tag out” lock on each tank. Residents will be responsible for contacting their propane provider for removal of these locks. Fire footprint expands in the Eightmile and Stuart Lake drainages Based on a recon flight yesterday, new fire acreage is estimated at 3,724. Observed fire activity on Tuesday consisted of smoldering, creeping and isolated single tree torching; with most of the new activity occurring Monday afternoon, when the smoke column was the most visible. The majority of the perimeter growth occurred in the Eightmile, and Stuart Lake basins, increasing the perimeter by approximately 700 acres near Eightmile Lake, and 200 acres near Stuart Lake. Monday’s fire activity burned heavy pockets of timber within Eightmile, and Stuart Lake basins. Portions of the new perimeter growth can be characterized as high intensity. The fire is expected to continue to grow in all directions however; predictive services forecast cooler seasonal weather trends, which should temper new perimeter growth. Sawmill Creek Fire Update for September 13, 2017 Enumclaw Washington, September 13, 2017 - The Sawmill Creek Fire is currently 915 acres with 0% containment and has increased by over 64 acres in the last three days. Overnight, the fire activity decreased at about 3:00 a.m. due to cooler temperatures and higher humidity. The fire grows slightly as it backs down slopes and creeps around in ground fuels; it remains within the Sawmill Ridge area northeast of the town of Greenwater. Firefighters continue their efforts to improve roads, remove fuel around the fire and build indirect containment line. Crews continue to work their way into the fire to build direct containment lines. Residents Allowed to Return to Homes in Teanaway Kittitas County, WA - 09/12/2017 - Effective at 9:00am this morning (Tuesday 9/12), the Kittitas County Emergency Operations Center officially reduced the Evacuation Advisory in certain parts of the Teanaway area, allowing residents affected by the Jolly Mountain Fire to return home. The EOC reduced the Level 3 notice to Level 2 in Teanaway Meadows, the West Fork to include Dingbat, the Middle Fork, the Wagon Wheel area, and the residences in the lower North Fork Teanaway area. Residents returning home are reminded to use extra caution on the roads, as fire personnel and equipment are still actively working and moving through the area. The fire developed five small columns; two in Canada, one in the middle of the fire within an unburned island in the Wolf Creek drainage, one on the northeast edge near Remmel Creek and one on the southern perimeter in the Monument Creek drainage. Fire behavior in the Monument Creek drainage consisted mainly of slow runs up the canyon walls without a significant push to the south. Smoke Forecast Outlook issued September 12, 2017 Smoke: The day will start with smoke settling in the valleys due to lack of air movement in the atmosphere. Air quality should improve later this evening as a storm front moves into the area. Through the remainder of the week a continual improvement in air quality is expected. Fire: The Jolly Mountain fire is at 30,720 acres an increase of 1,288 acres. Active backing fire behavior with torching and short uphill runs. The Norse Peak fire is at 52,162 acres an increase of 2,165 acres. Fire behavior was moderate with single tree torching, backing and creeping.The Uno Peak fire is at 7,336 an increase of 100 acres.Moderate fire behavior with single tree torching backing and creeping was observed. Other: One more day of inverted temperatures and smoke trapped below the inversion. With approaching frontal system, smoke should be begin to dissipate.

Enumclaw Washington, September 12, 2017 - The Sawmill Creek Fire is currently 915 acres with 0% percent containment and has increased by over 64 acres in the last three days. Overnight, the fire activity decreased at about 1:30 a.m. due to cooler temperatures and higher humidity. The fire grows slightly as it backs down slopes and creeps around in ground fuels; it remains within the Sawmill Ridge area northeast of the town of Greenwater. An upper level low will gradually settle over the region Wednesday through Friday with cooler temperatures below normal with a possible chance of showers at times. Fire is burning in areas of old growth and activity is creeping, smoldering, and backing. This area has a history of east wind events and strong cold front passages in the fall. Firefighters continue their efforts to improve roads, remove fuel around the fire and build indirect containment line. Hart's Pass Pacific Crest Trail Pickup Point Affected by Diamond CreekThe Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) and Hart's Pass Road, which provides the northernmost motorized access point on the PCT, are currently open. Should fire activity increase, the PCT and/or Hart's Pass Road could be affected and may be closed to the public. The alternate pickup point for PCT hikers, if the Hart's Pass Road is closed, would be Rainy Pass on Highway 20. Please be prepared for the potential need to reroute your egress from the Pasayten Wilderness. Any trail or road closures will be updated daily by the US Forest Service and posted on their fire website. EQUIPO #10 DE DIRECCIÓN DE INCIDENTES DEL NOROESTE Al Lawson- Comandante de incidentes El equipo de operaciones aéreas aprovecha el cielo despejado Lunes, 11 de septiembre de 2017 Incendio: Uno Peak Completado: 1% Acres: 7.336 Fecha de inicio: 30 de agosto de 2017 Causa: a ser determinada Ubicación: 15 millas al NO de Manson, WA Personal total: 273 Carburantes/topografía: madera, pasto, terreño escarpado Ayer: la humedad relativa baja en las zonas altas provocó que el incendio ganara en actividad y quemara bolsas internas de carburantes. El incendio permanece dentro de las líneas de contención. 2 helicópteros Black Hawk de la Guardia Aérea Nacional de Washington y un helicóptero tipo 3 ofrecieron apoyo aéreo durante el día.
