Temperatures will remain below the seasonal average with a slight upward trend expected into the weekend. Update: Yesterday helicopters flew for the first time in several days dropping firefighters off to assess suppression repair work. In addition to retrieving hose lay, firefighters unwrapped a cabin in the Hidden Lakes area. Wrapping is a technique where heat reflective material is used to protect structures potentially in the path of a fire. There was more good work done with suppression repair. One of the areas of work was along the 500 Road. Despite the recent days of cloud cover and light drizzle, the fire has still not received “wetting rains.” A wetting rain is a rain of 0.1 inch or more. Effective immediately: Pierce County has dropped the level 3 evacuation for Greenwater Area 4, FS 7160 eastbound on SR 410 to Crystal Mountain Blvd, to fire danger advisory level 1.All other awareness and evacuation levels in the Greenwater area, to include Gold Hills and Crystal Mountain Resort, have been lifted. Update: Suppression repair work continued steadily yesterday along the contingency lines and Early Winter Guard Station. Work included hand piling, log repositioning and stacking, and wood chipping.
