Suiattle River Fire Update for September 11, 2022Weather: The Red Flag Warning has been extended through Sunday evening for dry and unstable conditions that have the potential to increase fire activity.  Weather conditions are expected to moderate after Sunday.  Overview:  Firefighters observed concentrated heat in the northeastern area of the Suiattle River Fire.  Updated infrared (IR) mapping is not available, but fire personnel don’t anticipate the fire to have grown significantly, and it has remained within the identified confinement lines.  Crews finished snagging Forest Road 2640 and will focus their efforts snagging Suiattle River Road (Forest Road 26) near the Huckleberry Trailhead and Buck Creek Campground today.  Heavy equipment operators are deepening the confinement line by brush clearing along Suiattle River Road.Minimum impact suppression tactics (MIST) are firefighting tactics with a high standard of care for the land. News Release 9-11-22 (Seven Bays Wildfire)

 News Release September 11, 2022  Davenport, WA - The Seven Bays Fire is located approximately 15 miles northwest of Davenport, WA. This fire started on Sunday, September 4th and has burned approximately 1,232 acres of rangeland, stubble and scattered forest lands. The fire is 86% contained.  Evacuations: No Evacuation levels.  Road Closure:  No Road Closures.   Saturday,   Fire fighters continued mop up along the fire perimeter extending more than 100 feet from the fire edge.  Repair work continued on interior and perimeter dozer line.  Division A is in patrol Status.  This work increased fire containment to 86%.  Sunday, Firefighter’s will continue mop up around the fire perimeter and continue repairing interior and perimeter dozer lines.  This is expected to be the last shift for fire fighters.  At the completion of the shift the fire is expected to be in patrol status.  Excess resources will be released to return to home units or are being sent to other fires....

Goat Rocks FireSeptember 10, 2022 11:00am Update Overview: Located 2 miles NE of Packwood, WA in the Goat Rocks Wilderness on the Cowlitz Valley Ranger District. The Goat Rocks Fire is estimated to be 1500 acres in size. The incident was discovered on Aug. 9, 2022 and was partly suppressed by a rappel attack crew. Crews suppressed what they safely could and the fire was monitored. Increased easterly winds, high temperatures, and low humidity throughout the area have prompted a Red Flag Warning from the National Weather Service through Sunday evening. On Friday, the Copper Lake and Copper Ridge fires merged, and the North Fork and Little Chill fires merged. The two fires are now known as Copper Lake and Little Chill fires, respectively. The Silesia Fire had significant growth and is approximately one mile from the forest boundary with the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest.  Currently the communities of Timberline, High Valley, Goat Rocks, and areas east of the main part of Packwood are currently under a level 3 evacuation order. These residents should leave the area immediately and take shelter at a different location. The community of Packwood is under a Level 2 Evacuation order, and are in the Set status. Residents should have items prepared and ready to leave, and if possible locate to a safe location away from Packwood ahead of time. An evacuation shelter has been set up at White Pass School located at 516 Silverbrook Road, Randle WA. This shelter will be open for any and all evacuees including people who need a location overnight. Small animals may also take shelter at the White Pass School as long as they are in a cage or kennel. If you evacuated with large animals reach out to Lewis County Emergency Management at 360-740-1151 for a location to take those

 A Type 3 Incident Management Team is managing 4 fires in the same general area. Each fire is burning in remote steep rugged terrain with limited access. The fires are remote and are not threatening critical infrastructure, wildlife habitat, nor watershed integrity. Further trail closures, however, are planned as public safety remains the highest priority. The fires were all started from lightning as numerous thunderstorms have passed over the area the past three weeks. The first ignition was discovered on August 13 and the last on September 3, 2022. Managers have taken a confine/contain approach to the suppression of these fires due to the remoteness and rugged terrain. Air support is available. Thor Fire -The fire is located 5 miles east of Sullivan Lake and burning in a remote area. The fire is approximately 1276 acres.
