Suiattle River Fire Update - September 13, 2022 (Suiattle River Fire Wildfire)

Weather:  Weather conditions today will be within the norms of a seasonal weather pattern.  Relative humidity recovery overnight will be robust.  Cooler temperatures and higher relative humidity levels will prevail throughout the week.  Fire personnel are continuously monitoring the weather and anticipating its effect on fire behavior.     Overview:  Heavy equipment operators have nearly completed brushing the roadsides of Suiattle River Road (Forest Road 26) previously snagged by firefighters.  They are moving large pieces of debris and felled trees farther away from the roadway.  These measures are being used to reduce roadside hazards and deepen the fire confinement lines.  The Suiattle River Fire is active but remains well within the confinement lines.  Firefighters are closely monitoring fire behavior even as the weather moderates.  The fire will continue to burn until the area receives significant, long duration moisture.  Updated mapping of the fire...

Goat Rocks FireSeptember 12, 2022 5:30pm Update  Overview: Northwest Incident Management Team 10 (NWT10), under the leadership of Incident Commander Alan Lawson, assumed command of the Goat Rocks Fire at 6 a.m. this morning. The fire is burning 1.5 miles northeast of the town of Packwood, Washington. Suppression efforts continue to be challenged by steep rugged terrain in dense stands of timber in the Goat Rocks Wilderness. Incident objectives will remain the same with the priority on protecting the life and safety of the public and firefighters. Fire Activity: Yesterday, firefighters worked throughout the day conducting structure protection in the areas of Timberline, Goat Rocks, and High Valley in the event the fire continues to approach those neighborhoods. Crews also cleared several Forest Service Roads and US-12 to create a fuel break along the road systems. The fire did advance down the Coal Creek, Dam Creek, and Lava Creek drainages.    Suiattle River Fire Update, September 12, 2022Weather:  The Red Flag Warning has ended.  Weather conditions are expected to moderate today with a return to a seasonal weather pattern.   Cooler temperatures and increased relative humidity levels will prevail throughout the week.   Fire personnel are continuously monitoring the weather and anticipating its effect on fire behavior.     Overview:  Heavy equipment operations are deepening the confinement line by brush clearing along Suiattle River Road.  A second masticator arrived, and brush work is approximately 50% complete while mowing is approximately 75% complete; both operations are expected to finish mid-week or sooner.  Firefighters completed snagging operations along Suiattle River Road and Forest Road 2640.  Crews will continue assessing and strengthening confinement lines.  As the weather moderates and crews make progress on the confinement lines, fire behavior will continue to be monitored and the need...

White River and Irving Peak Fires Update September 12, 2022 Plain, WA – Lightning started the White River and Irving Peak Fires on August 11th. The Minnow Ridge Fire cause is currently undetermined. These fires are burning on the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. Suppression Strategy – Due to rugged and steep terrain, fire managers continue to implement a long-term strategy to manage these fires, including the use of primary and contingency perimeter lines for containment. Tactics include completion and reinforcement of fire lines utilizing forest roads and constructed hand line. Current Situation – A local Type 3 Incident Management Team assumed command of the fires on September 7th and is currently managing the White River, Irving Peak, Meander, and now Minnow Ridge fires. The Meander Fire is 6 acres with very minimal fire activity. Smoke may be visible over the next several weeks as interior fuels continue to smolder and burn out, and multiple fires burn region-wide. Final News Release 9-12-22 (Seven Bays Wildfire)

 Final News Release September 12, 2022  Davenport, WA – This is the final update for the Seven Bays Fire.  The Seven Bays Fire is located approximately 15 miles northwest of Davenport, WA. This fire started on Sunday, September 4th and has burned approximately 1,232 acres of rangeland, stubble and scattered forest lands. The fire is 100% contained.    Evacuations: No Evacuation levels.  Road Closure:  No Road Closures.  Sunday,   Fire fighters continued mop up along the fire perimeter extending more than 100 feet from the fire edge.  Repair work was completed on interior and perimeter dozer line.  Division A is in patrol Status.  This work increased fire containment to 100%.  Monday,  The fire will be returned to the local fire unit on 9/12/22 at 0900.    The fire is now in patrol status.   Team Three thanks the community of Davenport and the Lincoln County Fairgrounds for their assistance in the successful management of the Seven Bays fire.  When residents of...

Packwood Evacuation Update, September 11, 2022 7:00pm Update. As of 7:00 PM today (September 11, 2022), Hwy 12 and SR 123 are open in both directions. The following Forest Service Roads remain CLOSED: FSR46, FSR4610, FSR4612, FSR1266, FSR1260 and all associated spurs. La Wis Wis Campground is still closed until further notice. Also at 7:00 PM evacuation levels will change as follows: Timberline community to the SOUTH of Hwy 12 (noted in PINK in map below) is reduced to a Level 2: Be Set. All other areas including, Timberline community to the NORTH of HWY 12, Goat Rocks, High Valley and Packwood proper are reduced to a Level 1: Be Ready.   The Goat Rocks Fire is still a threat to the community with fire suppression activity still going on. Goat Rocks FireSeptember 11, 2022 10:00am Update  Overview: Located 1.5 miles NE of Packwood, WA in the Goat Rocks Wilderness on the Cowlitz Valley Ranger District. The Goat Rocks Fire is estimated to be 2228 acres in size. The incident was discovered on Aug. 9, 2022 and was partly suppressed by a rappel attack crew. Crews suppressed what they safely could, and the fire was monitored. On September 9, 2022 the fire began to increase in size during a high wind event.  Size: Approximately 2842 acres  Forest closures: US Hwy-12 is closed from Skate Creek and White Pass.
