Los bomberos cerraron operaciones de tácticas de quema sobre Rum CreekMERLIN, Ore. – Los bomberos del turno al anochecer, pasaran la noche monitoreando y limpiando a partir de la última operación de tácticas de quemas sobre el Incendio Rum Creek. El día de hoy, se completaron un área pequeña sobre la esquina noroeste del incendio cercana a Rogue River y otra zona sobre el eje Norte/Nororiental del incendio cercano a Grave Creek. Terminaron con el fortalecimiento y reforzamiento de las líneas primarias de contingencia. Rum Creek Fire evening update for Monday, Sept. 5 (Rum Creek Fire Wildfire)
Crews wrap up tactical firing operations on Rum CreekMERLIN, Ore. – Night shift crews will spend tonight monitoring and mopping up from the last planned tactical firing operations on the Rum Creek Fire. Today, firefighters continued strengthening and reinforcing primary and contingency lines in the northwest corner of the fire near the Rogue River, as well as in the northeast corner near Grave Creek. The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for Tuesday due to high temperatures and low relative humidity. Forecasted temperatures could reach 105F, which would be the hottest since the Rum Creek Fire started Aug. 17. These conditions could promote rapid fire spread. Aviation resources supported firefighters on the ground with water drops on the fire, which was flanking at the far northwest edge of the fire footprint, and also on a hot spot in an unburned drainage in the northeast section. Cedar Creek Fire Smoke Outlook, Sept. 5-6Special Statement Fire Weather Watch in effect from Tuesday afternoon through Tuesday evening for dry and unstable conditions. Fire The Cedar Creek Fire in Central Oregon is 17,625 acres with 12% containment. The fire grew 910 acres yesterday. We are expecting moderate to active fire activity today, with slightly warmer temperatures and lower relative humidity values. For additional information on the fires, see Cedar Creek Fire, and Rum Creek Fire Smoke Areas east of the Cedar Creek fire will continue to have the greatest smoke impacts today with La Pine, Sunriver and Bend in the moderate to USG range. Oakridge will have some increase in smoke impacts today with moderate to occasional USG. Easterly flow will bring increasing smoke to Eugene/Springfield early on Tuesday. Although temperatures were warm and relative humidity values were low, winds were much lighter than the previous day.
