High temperatures, low relative humidity and gusting winds have contributed to fire growth to the north and east over the last two days. The fire has burned east to Keller Butte Rd. and has crossed the road in several places. Firefighters are working around the clock to protect structures along Cache Creek Rd. and hold the fire along the eastern edge at Keller Butte Rd. Fire growth has slowed considerably along the northeastern edge between Nespelem and Buffalo Lake. NW Team 12 will assume command of Incident 90 (Central Peak Fire) today. Cedar Creek and Delancy Fire Update July 15, 2021 Evening Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest     Fire Information Line: 509-557-0740 (8:00 am to 8:00 pm) Winthrop, WA — Cedar Creek and Delancy Fires are burning on the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest in very steep and rocky terrain in heavy down fuels. Cedar Creek Fire is burning south and west of State Route 20. Heavy equipment is continuing to deepen the prepared containment line along State Route 20 and treat fuels from the roadway. Dozer containment line constructed from other previous fires at the toe of the slope will also be opened and prepped as indirect line. Firefighters are scouting other indirect line opportunities in the Sandy Butte area along the ridge and near Wolf Creek. A spot fire south of Cedar Creek was identified and ground truthed by firefighting resources.  The location is in very steep terrain so helicopters will be utilized with water bucket drops to cool and stop any forward...

CHUWEAH CREEK FIRE UPDATENORTHWEST INCIDENT MANAGEMENT TEAM 12Incident Commander: Bobby Shindelar July 15, 2021Operations Today: The Chuweah Creek Fire started just outside the town of Nespelem on July 12 when a lightning storm moved through the area. Yesterday (July 14) the fire grew toward the east and northeast, aided by wind, fuels and terrain, crossing Cache Creek Rd. east of Shiloh Rd. Dozer line was constructed and resources worked through the night to protect homes in the area. Structure protection is also in place on the south edge of the fire in the Buffalo and McGinnis Lake areas. The fire has burned east to Keller Butte Rd. and has crossed the road in several places. Eleven structures in Nespelem were lost during the initial phase of the fire: three primary residences and seven outbuildings. The Chuweah Creek fire merged with the Joe Moses fire, which was reported at the same time. Eleven structures in Nespelem were lost during the initial phase of the fire, three primary residences and seven outbuildings. After a successful shift, almost all resources were released at the end of the day.     Varden/Cedar Creek/Delancy Fire Update July 13, 2021 Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest    Fire Information Line: 509-557-0740   Winthrop, WA (July 13, 2021) — Both the Varden and Cedar Creek Fires had active fire behavior and saw an increase in size over the last two days. These wildfires fires were caused by the thunderstorm that came through north central Washington on July 8.   The Varden Fire located approximately 5.5 miles west of Mazama, WA., on the south side of State Route 20 and is estimated at over 1000 acres. Crews continue to prep along highway from Silver Star Creek to the Cedar Creek trailhead by reducing fuels close to the road and removing dead trees that could pose a hazard to firefighters and the emergency response vehicles.   Yesterday dozers and hand crews started constructing line along the base of Sandy Butte toward Lucky Jim Bluff to help prevent the spread of the fire into the valley bottom towards Mazama and surrounding communities....

Keller, WA – Colville Tribes has three wildfires on the Colville Reservation. Two fires are located near Nespelem, WA and one fire in the Inchelium District. All fires are caused by lightning. Currently there are power outages and all phone lines are reportedly down in the Nespelem area. This includes the Colville Indian Agency, Tribal Police and Mt Tolman Fire Center. Evacuations have been issued please be aware of the definitions below:  Level 3 means “GO - Danger in your area is imminent and life threatening.”  Level 2 means “SET – Be Alert. There is significant danger to your area. Consider voluntarily relocating to a shelter or with family/friends outside the affected area.  Cheney, WA – Yesterday, firefighters finished mopping up and repairing damage from suppression activities and at 8:00 am this morning the incident will be turned back to Spokane County Fire District 3 and Washington State Department of Natural Resources.  The fire is now 100% contained.  Northeast Washington Interagency Incident Management Team 2 has demobilized and would like to express our appreciation to the community and all our agency partners who helped make this assignment a success.      A small contingent of firefighters will remain on the fire over the next several days to monitor conditions and patrol the fire lines.   Residents may continue to see smoke within the fire perimeter.  There have been no reported injuries or any structures lost.  The fire burned 232 acres.    Evacuation levels: All evacuation orders and road closures have been lifted.  Motorists and residents should expect to continue to see firefighting traffic in and around the area of the...

Fire Update 7-10-21 (Andrus Wildfire)

 Cheney, WA –Overnight crews continued the process of identifying hotspots within the fire perimeter using infrared scanners.  These areas are marked to allow firefighters today to work to cool the last remaining areas of concern.  Firefighters will then complete mopping up 200 feet in from the perimeter, 500 feet from structures as well as making repairs to areas affected by suppression activities. The fire is now 80% contained.  Firefighters will continue the process of demobilization today.  A smaller contingent of resources will remain behind for several more days to assist the local agencies.   The fire is expected to transfer back the local agencies on Sunday July 11th unless conditions change.    There are 229 personnel assigned to the incident and to date there have been no reported injuries or any structures lost.  The total acreage remains at 232 and is expected to stay at that number.   Evacuation levels: All evacuation orders and road closures have been...

The Batterman Road fire, which is located east of East Wenatchee is now 100% contained. The fire has been managed by Northwest Incident Management Team (IMT) 12 in coordination with the Washington State Fire Marshal’s Office, Spokane BLM, Washington DNR Southeast Region, and Douglas County Fire Districts 1 and 2. Fire resources continued to monitor and patrol established fire lines throughout today’s shift, focusing on interior pockets of fire activity in the drainages to ensure no future threat to containment. Several resources that were slated for demobilization have been reassigned to higher priority incidents in the region or released.   Operations Tomorrow: Northwest Incident Management Team 12 will transition command of the Batterman Road Fire back to local fire management officials at 6:00 AM on July 10, 2021.
