  Cedar Creek and Delancy Fires Morning UpdateJuly 19, 2021Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest  Fire Information Line - Cedar Creek and Delancy Fires: 509-557-0740 (8:00 am to 8:00 pm) Winthrop, WA — Cedar Creek and Delancy Fires are burning on the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest in very steep and rocky terrain in heavy down fuels.Cedar Creek Fire is burning south and west of State Route 20. Yesterday activity picked up in the Huckleberry and Cedar Creek drainages along the southeastern flank of the fire. The southeast portion of the fire pushed to the top of Sandy Butte where growth slowed. The northeastern anchor point using Forest Service Road 200 was compromised last night by a handful of spot fires. Resources will utilize a contingency line off of Forest Service Road 100 while exploring options to potentially bring the fire down to State Route 20. CHUWEAH CREEK FIRE UPDATE NORTHWEST INCIDENT MANAGEMENT TEAM 12 Incident Commander: Bobby Shindelar July 19, 2021 8:00 AM Operations Today:  Firefighters faced new challenges on the Chuweah Creek Fire as temperatures and winds increased across the fire area yesterday. The addition of two hotshot crews and other resources contributed to successful advances on the fireline during the both the day and night shifts.  A drone intrusion into airspace on the south part of the fire yesterday grounded air resources temporarily, impacting firefighting efforts. An aggressive, direct approach will continue today in anticipation of gusty winds and low relative humidity later in the week. Line construction along the north and east edges remains a priority as crews work to utilize natural terrain features and roads to establish anchor points. Crews will focus on containment in the northeast corner of the fire and will continue to hold the line along Keller Butte Ridge on the eastern flank....

 Red Apple Fire Update July 19, 2021 Incident Start Date: July 13, 2021; Cause: Undetermined; Acreage: 12,228; Containment: 83% Hand Crews: 6; Engines: 21; Helicopters: 1 Dozers: 3; Water Tenders: 2; Total Personnel: 278 Firefighter Injuries: 1; Structures Threatened: 400; Structures Damaged: 5; Structures Destroyed: 0 Weather: Last night the region experienced poor to fair relative humidity, which will lead to warm and dry conditions throughout the day. Temperatures will be in the upper 80’s and in the lower 90’s. This afternoon winds will increase out of the northwest, with gusts reaching 30 MPH and lasting into the overnight hours.Current Situation: Overnight, firefighters continued to make good progress on the fire.  Crews, engines, and dozers continued tactical patrolling and mop-up in the upper elevations to extinguish any hot spots. Goddard Road Fire Update 7/19 - 8am (Goddard Road Fire Wildfire)

           Goddard Road Fire  News Release  - July 19th, 2021 Rice, WA:  The Goddard Road fire was reported on July 16th, at approximately 1:43pm near Goddard Road and Orin-Rice Road.  The fire is about 1 mile northeast of Rice and 11 miles southeast of Kettle Falls.   Yesterday, crews continued to construct additional direct lines along the fire line and monitored heavier fuel (timbered areas, with forest litter debris), which are quickly consuming with the low relative humidity and dryness of the fuels.  Along Goddard Road, the fire backed down (a slow progression of the fire as it moved downhill) and was monitored by crews as it stopped at the road.  Fire weakened trees and snags have the possibility to fall across the road and are being mitigated by crews to reduce the hazard.  Small spots were still present on the northern section of the fire, but crews, along with a helicopter were able to identify the affected areas and quickly contain them where they...

 Smoke Outlook for 7/19 -7/20North Central Washington Cedar Creek, Delancy, Cub Creek 2  SmokeExpect similar smoke impacts today in the upper Methow Valley. Increased impacts will occur in the lower Methow Valley, and the Columbia River Drainage toward Omak. Smoke will settle into the valleys overnight resulting in unhealthy to hazardous air in Winthrop and Mazama between 4:00 am to mid afternoon. Mazama impacts may be worse today due to increased fire activity yesterday and a forecast West wind this afternoon. Twisp may experience a shorter period of unhealthy air than Winthrop but should still have unhealthy air in the morning and early afternoon. The Omak area is starting to have degraded air quality as of 3:00 am. 19 July Summit Trail Fire Update (Summit Trail Wildfire)

INCHELIUM, WASHINGTON – The Summit Trail Fire started on July 12th 17 miles west of Inchelium after a lightning storm moved through the area. California Interagency Incident Management Team 10 is in command of the fire with Incident Commander Daren Dalrymple. Yesterday on the south end, firefighters built direct fireline with crews and indirect fireline with dozers. The fire progressed to the north and remains south of the Lynx Creek Road. On the southeast side, crews continued direct line construction and mopped up areas along the completed sections of fireline. Fixed wing aircraft and helicopters were used on a spot fire to the south. Today the priority is to construct line and mop up around the spot fire on the south end. The second priority is on the southeast side with continued direct line construction. Firefighters will also be on the southwest side with continued direct line construction.   Cub Creek 2 Fire Evening Update July 18, 2021 Fire Information Line – (541)-670-0812 (8:00 am to 8:00 pm) The fire is burning on Okanogan County Fire District 6 and Washington Department of Natural Resources protected lands and the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. Winthrop, WA — Cub Creek 2 – The fire remains split into two fingers and is growing actively to the north and northeast. The east finger continues to burn north over Boulder Creek and east up toward the First Butte Lookout and old Tripod Fire scar. The west finger is burning north paralleling the Chewuch River where it has crossed the 8 Mile Ridge and just south of Paul Mountain.  The majority of the left flank of the fire is lined with dozerline from the heel of the fire to First Creek Road.  The south line is being reinforced to prevent spread. Fire behavior picked up this afternoon. The northern portion of the fire has backed down to State Route 20 in most locations. On the western flank, fire activity increased pushing the fire up into higher elevations.  Goddard Road Fire  News Release  - July 18th, 2021 Rice, WA:  The Goddard Road fire was reported on July 16th, at approximately 1:43pm near Goddard Road and Orin-Rice Road.  The fire is about 1 mile northeast of Rice and 11 miles southeast of Kettle Falls.   Yesterday, fire behavior greatly diminished, with the exception of a few active spots on the southwest and northern flanks.  Helicopters and fire bosses helped to slow progression in these areas, allowing crews to strengthen lines.  Spotting occurred along the north line in as afternoon winds increased, but crews were able to line them as they occurred.  A helicopter was able to support crews in containing the spots.   Today, crews will work to finalize the line around the fire and start installing hose lays and pumps.  This will allow crews to begin removing burning material away from the fire line and increasing containment.  In some cases, a burnout operation might be necessary on an indirect line and...

Fire behavior moderated for much of yesterday. Last night the fire pulled in on itself in numerous locations slowing the rate of spread. The northern portion of the fire has backed down to State Route 20 in most locations. The western perimeter of the fire has burned onto a ridgeline with sparse fuels slowing spread. On the southern portion of the fire, growth has been minimal as the fire burns in subalpine areas with minimal vegetation. The northeastern portion of the fire remains the most active. Winthrop, WA — Cub Creek 2 – The fire has fundamentally split into two fingers. The east finger is burning north over Boulder Creek and east up toward the previous Tripod Fire scar and First Butte Lookout.  Colville Tribes Closes Reservation Due to Uncontrolled Fires (Nespelem, WA) — The Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation declared a state of emergency today due to multiple uncontrolled fires on the Colville Reservation. The Reservation is currently shut down to industrial activities and to the general public. The Tribes has imposed an Industrial Fire Precaution Level IV general shutdown, which closes all forest roads to the public. State and county improved roads (with a paved or gravel surface) remain open.

CHUWEAH CREEK FIRE UPDATENORTHWEST INCIDENT MANAGEMENT TEAM 12Incident Commander: Bobby Shindelar July 18, 2021 8:00 AM Operations Today:  Firefighters took advantage of the cooler weather and arriving resources to make further progress toward containing the fire. Bucket drops were used in the northeastern area of the fire, which continues to pose challenges. The Saturday night shift, which included two newly arrived Hotshot crews, focused their efforts in that area. That work will continue and crews will ‘spike’ camp in the area in order to increase efficiency by incurring less travel time. Crews continued constructing line north of Cache Creek and scouted locations to tie the firelines together. They continue working north, constructing direct handline and dozer lines around areas that burned east of the Keller Butte Road. Mazama, Winthrop, and residences upslope from the valley floor should expect periods of USG and Unhealthy air, particularly when the winds shift from downvalley to upvalley continuing until the inversion lifts. Upvalley winds will then start to scour out the smoke. Twisp should expect Moderate to USG throughout the day. Less impacts should occur further downvalley. Consider creating an inexpensive clean room in your house even if you don’t have an air purifier. Utilize a box fan with a filter taped to it in a room with a closed door and closed windows. INCHELIUM, WASHINGTON – The Summit Trail Fire started on July 12th 17 miles west of Inchelium after a lightning storm moved through the area. California Interagency Incident Management Team 10 is in command of the fire with Incident Commander Daren Dalrymple. Yesterday, crews continued to build direct fire line. There was fire growth on the north-northwest side of the fire, and crews scouted Upper Ridge Creek Road, developing a plan to prep and hold the fire along the road. Due to limited resources the fire continued to grow northeast at a moderate rate of spread. The fire has reached the Beaver Creek Dam Drainage on the east side, and crews continue to construct line to the northeast toward that area.
