Final Update YESTERDAY: The fire was kept within the containment lines while being tested by significant winds. While the fire was held in check, the wind contributed to snags falling throughout the fire area. Firefighters worked on intense mop up around the fire perimeter. Repair work continued on dozer lines and fences damaged during fire suppression. Friday night’s dry thunderstorms with lightning, contributed to numerous new fires across Washington. The Department of Natural Resources reported 68 new wildfires. With the increased initial attack activity, fire managers identified resources that could be released and reassigned to assist where needed. TODAY: Firefighters will be finishing mop up on the fire. Engines will be directed to persistent areas of heat by Palm Infrared Teams. These teams use handheld infrared equipment to identify areas of hidden and deep seated pockets of heat that may not be readily seen by crews. Their focus will be around...

Incendio de Cougar Creek Acres: 26.695 (aumento de 7.318 acres) Contención: 5% Personal: 1.190 Incendio de Cougar Creek: El incendio continuó propagándose durante el día y la noche de ayer debido a que la vegetación, los vientos y las características topográficas de la zona favorecieron la expansión del fuego. Como resultado, el incendio se expandió hacia el este de Entiat Road. La prioridad de hoy son estos focos del lado este de Entiat Road, y para ello se emplearán recursos tanto terrestres como aéreos. Hoy se comenzarán trabajos con excavadoras cerca de la carretera de Potato Creek para vincular la red de carreteras en esa zona. Acreage: 26,695 (7,318-acre increase)Containment: 5 percentPersonnel: 1,190Cougar Creek Fire:Fire growth continued yesterday and into the evening as vegetation, winds and topographic features came intoalignment. The result was expansion of the fire to the east of Entiat Road. Today these spot fires on the east side ofEntiat Road are prioritized and will be addressed by fire resources on the ground as well as the air. Dozer work willbe initiated today near Potato Creek road to tie in with the road systems in that area. Windy conditions yesterdaygrounded aircraft but today they will be able to be utilized. Another priority today will be closing the southeastcorner of the fire as firefighters prepare to burn out and secure this area, preventing further spread to the southeastand protecting Ardenvoir. No infrared flight occurred last night, so the documented acreage remains the same. The southern fire edge remains approximately 1.7 miles from the closest structure in the Twisp River drainage and 13 miles from the town of Twisp. Yesterday, crews constructed direct dozer line along the fire edge in Poplar Flat and will connect to Slate Creek Trail with handline. Snagging, the removal of dead/hazard trees, will occur today along Buttermilk Road and in other locations along the fire perimeter. Line construction along Scaffold Ridge will also continue. New fire information phone number - please call (360) 427-9670 x820.Hamma Hamma, WA – Thanks to diligent firefighting efforts, cool conditions, and intermittent rain, the Maple Fire experienced no significant growth yesterday. About 13,500 feet of fire hose, sprinklers, and pumps have been installed along the east and south fire perimeter and will be tested today to provide water for fire suppression. Two helicopters are available to assist, as needed. Fire crews have also cleared about two miles of roadside brush along Forest Road 25 and now are focusing on clearing efforts on the south side of the fire along Forest Road.Crews Saturday are asked to be on the lookout for falling trees and rocks and to watch for hot spots not dampened by Saturday’s showers. There is an emergency closure area surrounding the Clear Fork Fire in the Goat Rocks Wilderness on the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. The closure area is bounded by the Pacific Crest Trail (#2000) on the east; US Hwy 12 on the north to Trail #76; following Trail #76 to the junction of Trail #61 (Coyote Trail); south following Trail #61 to its junction with the Pacific Crest Trail. CRITICAL COUGAR CREEK UPDATE INCREASED EVACUATION LEVELS AND ONE NEW EVACUATION AREA ADDED Chelan County Emergency Management has raised existing evacuation levels at 7:30 pm tonight, Friday, August 10, 2018. The Entiat River Road from Ardenvoir north to the end of the road (approximately to milepost 25) and Mad River Road are now Level 3, which means "leave immediately." The Entiat River Road from Crum Canyon (including Crum Canyon Road) up to the southern boundary of Ardenvoir is now elevated to Level 2, which means "prepare to leave at a moment's notice."A new Level 1 Evacuation Notice was issued for the Entiat River Road from US 97A to Crum Canyon, which means "time to prepare." The Cougar Creek Fire is being pushed by strong winds through heavy dead and down fuels toward the southeast, down Miners Ridge and the Mad River Drainage. Cougar Creek, Lost, Bannock Lakes, and Whitepine Fires Saturday, August 11, 2018 Cougar Creek Fire Acreage: 18,376 (5,948-acre increase) Containment: 5 percent Personnel: 933 Last evening forecasted winds out of the northwest arrived, pushing fire toward the southeast, down Miner's Ridge, Hornet Creek and into the Mad River drainage. Wind-driven fire also moved through McKenzie Saddle with single-tree torching visible. Eastern lines on the Cougar Fire were tested, and in some areas, spot fires occurred, which are being managed today. Additional resources were acquired through State Mobilization for the Cougar Creek fire and activated last evening at 6:15 P.M. to assist the structure protection group in the Entiat River Valley.
