A level 3 Evacuation has been issued for persons living on West Buttermilk Creek Road and Twisp River Road all west of the Buttermilk Creek intersection. Persons should evacuate NOW, do not wait. Evacuate east towards Twisp. The Crescent Mountain Fire is currently on Snowshoe Ridge advancing down drainage towards Eagle Creek. The Red Cross will be setting up a shelter at the Methow Valley Community Center, for persons needing a place to stay. LEVEL 3 EVACUATION West Buttermilk Creek Road and Twisp River Road all west of the Buttermilk Creek Intersection with Twisp River Road. Republic, WA – Firefighters will be continuing to remove the remaining snags and hazard trees around the fire perimeter today. Crews will work to improve the hose lay around the main fire as they transition into mop-up operations. The three spot fires to the southeast of the main fire have been lined and are no longer a threat to spread. The Kelly Mountain Fire started at approximately 11:00am on August 11th and was a part of eleven lightning and storm related fires reported in the Republic/Curlew/Toroda area. Local resources from US Forest Service, Washington State Department of Natural Resources along with private contractors responded to the Kelly Mountain fire that grew rapidly due to strong winds and extremely dry conditions. The fire is located south of Kelly Mountain, approximately 12 miles north of Republic. There are no structures or residences threatened at this time. Acreage: 34,482 Containment: 35 percent Personnel: 1,119 Cougar Creek Fire: Increased winds Thursday pushed fire smoke out of Leavenworth and parts of the Entiat River Valley. The winds also aided firefighters who conducted low intensity burnout operations along the southern perimeter from Sugarloaf Lookout to Gold Ridge. Winds will increase Friday with a Red Flag Warning across the fire area. Humidity continues to be critically low. Friday’s focus is to hold the containment lines in the Entiat River Valley and reinforce protection on the southern perimeter. Weather permitting, helicopters will assist firefighters on the ground in the Sugarloaf Lookout area where they will work to gain more depth of the containment line; and above Grandma Creek, crews will work to hold fire in the steep and rocky terrain. Community MeetingA Community Meeting has been scheduled to discuss the strategy being used to suppress the Kettle River Fire. The meeting will be held on Friday, August 17th at 6:30 p.m. in the Eagle Cliff Grange on Customs Road near the fire.Personnel from the Kelley Mountain Fire will also be on hand to answer questions about that fire north of Republic.

Kettle Falls, WA - The Boyds Fire is located 3 miles west of Kettle Falls, WA. Infrared flights of the fire estimate the size at approximately 3065 acres. However, the containment level has been increased to 18 percent. To date, there have been 4 structures lost on the Boyds fire.Warmer weather conditions and decreased humidity have increased fire activity. Helicopters are working along the northwest perimeter making water drops to cool the area where firefighters continue to work. Due to heavy smoke conditions and low visibility, retardant drops in the area have been delayed. Air attack continues to assess the situation for use in retardant.Firefighters made progress along the Nancy Creek area, tying in containment lines and mopping up along the fire’s edge. However, due to the heat generated by heavy dead and down timber being consumed, the firefighters were moved to alternative lines.
