Norse Peak Fire update for Septamber 26, 2017 (Norse Peak Fire Wildfire)
Date Started: Aug. 11, 2017; Cause: Lightning; Acreage: 52,056 (Norse Peak) and 3,853 (American) Percent Completed: 80% (Norse Peak) and 99% (American). Total Personnel: 125 which includes 3 Crews and 4 Engines. Fire Summary: Minimal fire growth is expected. Isolated pockets of slow surface spread where the fire is sheltered by the tree canopy and continued burning in the larger dead or down trees is still possible. The southeast side of the fire is under the command of the Naches Ranger District’s Type 4 organization. The northwest side of the fire is under the command of a Type 3 organization with the Incident Command Post located at the Expo Center in Enumclaw. Norse Peak Fire: On the northwest side of the fire, cleanup and fire suppression restoration work continues along Forest Road 70. Fire personnel are monitoring the active portion of the fire adjacent to State Route 410. American Fire: Any fire activity is expected to be minimal. 99% of the indirect lines are complete....

Oregon Department of Transportion Update on Road Closures (Eagle Creek Fire Wildfire)
Oregon Department of Transportation would like to remind you that even though I-84 is now open, the following exits remain closed due to the Eagle Creek Fire: -Larch Mountain Road -Bridal Veil -Multnomah Falls -Ainsworth -Warrendale -Bonneville exit is open, but Wahclella and Toothrock trailheads are closed. Remember, the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area has an area closure in effect that includes all USFS land and trails east of Sandy River Delta in Oregon. Umpqua North Complex - Taking Care of Camp (Umpqua North Complex Wildfire)
Camp crews are key for keeping fire camp clean, orderly, and safe. A 10-person crew made up of Tribal Nations Response Team (TNRT) members from Arizona have been busy keeping the Umpqua North Complex command post in tip top shape since they arrived. TNRT is a Type2 inital attack hand crew made up of seasonal "Emergency As Needed" firefighters. The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department has re-opened Dabney State Recreation Area, Portland Women's Forum State Scenic Viewpoint, Rooster Rock State Park and Starvation Creek State Park. Con el progreso significativo realizado en los Incendios de Chetco Bar e Indigo, y tan pronto como las condiciones climaticas se mantengan igual como hasta el momento, se bajara, gradualmente, el numero del personal y del equipo. El dia de hoy: Los bomberos continuan asegurando y barriendo areas donde algunas quemas siguen latentes. Public Meetings Scheduled for Chetco Bar Fire History & Update (Chetco Bar Fire Wildfire)
Southwest Oregon—The Forest Service will be hosting a series of four public meetings in the locally affected communities of Brookings, Agness, Gold Beach in Curry County and Cave Junction in Josephine County, OR to provide an update of the current situation on the Chetco Bar Fire, as well as the early history of suppression efforts on the Chetco Bar Fire in southwest Oregon from its beginning on July 12, 2017. “This is an opportunity for the public to hear the Forest Service describe the full suppression actions that were taken in the Kalmiopsis Wilderness on the Chetco Bar Fire. We’ll review the pattern of historic fires specific to this area and some of the challenges we face when fighting fires in Wilderness,” said Forest Supervisor Rob MacWhorter.
