South Umpqua Complex Update 7/25/2018 (South Umpqua Complex Wildfire)
Fire behavior moderated on Tuesday, but is expected to escalate again today. Firefighters made significant gains on Tuesday, but night shift on the Snowshoe Fire reported a dry wind from the northeast last night which caused spotting on the west side. Tall trees burning to their very tops were casting sparks downwind. The night crew was able to surround the visible hot spots with dozer line, and day crews will be checking again today. The forecast calls for gusts up to 20 MPH down the West Fork Trail Creek drainage this afternoon, which increases spotting potential in the southeast corner of the fire – an area that held well against Tuesday’s milder winds. The Miles Fire has reached Savage Bluffs east of Flat Creek drainage. Much of the burning in this area has been low intensity. The HD and Columbus Fires have finally joined and formed the single Columbus Fire. As the fire grows to the south, fire crews will burn out the fuels between the fire and Road 2925, which has been...

Weather & Fire Behavior: Afternoon temperatures will be in excess of 100 degrees in the valleys while the relative humidity will continue to drop into the mid teens. Afternoon winds will be out of the west and should remain light. Fire managers expect extreme fire behavior which could result in single tree and group torching in addition to short up-slope crown runs. Yesterday’s Activities: Due to the steep, rugged and inaccessible terrain, crews continued to work on indirect fire lines implementing primary control lines as well as holding and patrolling the east side. Crews continued to maintain the structure protection measures in place in Oak Flat. There was some active burning yesterday afternoon and evening in the Hayden Creek area with the fire burning down towards Panther Creek. Garner Complex Morning Update for July 25 (Garner Complex Wildfire)
For Public Information call the Joint Information Center: 541-474-5305 (8 a.m. —8 p.m.) Media Information Line: (541) 660-7634 Information Center Blog: SWOJIC.blogspot.com https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/5935/ email: garnercomplexinformation@gmail.com Last night’s burnout operations were conducted on the Taylor Creek Fire. Burnout means: setting fire inside a control line to consume fuel between the edge of the fire and the control line. Individual tree torching was visible through the night. However, all fire remains within the control lines due to the efforts of both wildland and structural fire fighters, who worked through the night. All day today burnout operations will be conducted on the south and east sides of the Taylor Creek fire and the south side of the Grave Creek Fire. The public will see more active fire and smoke in these areas. These burnout operations are critical for widening the control firelines that are strategically placed to control the fire. ...

Prospect, Oregon – Nineteen fires on the High Cascades Ranger District west of Crater Lake National Park are being managed under the collective name Sugar Pine, which is also the name of one specific fire. Wilson Prairie Fire Evening Update (Wilson Prairie Fire Wildfire)
[Morrow County, Ore.] Today additional resources arrived to support fire suppression efforts on the Wilson Prairie Fire in Morrow County. Firelines around the fire were strengthened and efforts made to complete hand and dozer fireline around the fire adjacent to retardant drops. However, late today the fire moved outside the fireline and pushed into the Porter Creek drainage on the southern end of the fire. Evening downslope winds have continued to move the fire through the drainage to the southeast and across the ridge into the next drainage to the south. Very Large Air Tankers (VLATS), Single Engine Air Tankers (SEATs), and helicopters continued to drop water and retardant on the fire to slow the fire growth and allow firefighters and equipment on the ground to engage in the suppression efforts. These ground resources are working to strengthen fireline along existing roads as well as building fireline in locations favorable to stopping the fire spread. The movement of the fire has...
