Crockets Knob Fire Update NORTHWEST INCIDENT MANAGEMENT TEAM 12Incident Commanders: Jeff Dimke and Bobby Shindelar September 09, 2022 Weather: Cool temperatures will continue today with calmer winds. Temperatures will be in the mid-70s this afternoon with wind gusts up to 18 mph. Conditions will still be dry with relative humidity dropping into the low teens. Operations: Yesterday crews began suppression repair along the FSR 45 and other containment lines. Crews are repairing the damage caused by fighting the fire. These repairs include adding water bars to containment lines. The water bars will help restore natural drainage to areas impacted by firefighting and reduce the potential for sediment to impact local streams and rivers. Crews will also continue removing excess hoses and equipment along containment lines. Firefighters conducted mop up in the northeast and eastern portion of the fire’s edge yesterday and will continue today mopping up any lingering heat near containment...

Double Creek, Sturgill, Nebo, Goat Mountain Two Fires September 9, 2022 Daily Update – 8:00 AM Highlights: Overall, fire activity was much lighter than previous days. Containment on the Double Creek Fire increased to 15 percent for an area of ten miles along the Imnaha River corridor, between Imnaha and Freezeout Road. The Double Creek fire advanced to the Snake River in the Pittsburg Landing area. A River Group has been established to assess and protect structures along the Snake River. Eagle Cap Wilderness Fires There are three lightning caused fires within the Eagle Cap Wilderness. The Nebo, Sturgill, and Goat Mountain 2 Fires are active and being managed to protect public and private infrastructure, while playing a natural role within designated Wilderness. Sturgill Fire: 18,715 acres | 0% contained | 120 personnel assigned There was minimal fire behavior on the Sturgill Fire Thursday. Personnel were repositioned to Red Horse Camp to continue structure protection activities....

 News Release September 9, 2022  Davenport, WA - The Seven Bays Fire is located approximately 15 miles northwest of Davenport, WA. This fire started on Sunday, September 4th and has burned approximately 1,175 acres of rangeland, stubble and scattered forest lands.  Klamath Falls, ORE. – As a result of fire activity, the Bureau of Land Management Klamath Falls Field Office has temporarily closed BLM-managed areas near the Van Meter Fire for public and firefighter safety. Members of the public may not enter closed areas, and all uses— including hiking, hunting, and dispersed camping—are prohibited. Klamath Falls, Ore. – Oregon Department of Forestry’s Incident Management Team 3, led by Incident Commander Tyler McCarty, took command of the Van Meter Fire earlier this evening. The IMT was brought in to relieve local resources and add capacity as the firefighting organization continues to increase from resources throughout the region.The fire, located 13 miles southeast of Klamath Falls, continues to burn erratically in the Stukel Mountain area. Despite a perfect storm of hot, dry, and windy weather combined with record low fuel moisture levels, firefighters continue to make progress in several areas. The fire is currently estimated at 3,500 acres. An infrared flight will take place tonight, providing a more accurate acreage total tomorrow. Of greatest concern is to the south of the fire in the Dodds Hollow area north of Merrill.  North Cascades National Park Service Complex News Release  Contact: Public Information, 2022.chilliwackcomplex@firenet.gov    Increased Fire Activity on the Chilliwack Complex   Sedro Woolley, WA – There is increased fire activity on the Chilliwack Complex due to Wednesday’s weather event with increased winds and low humidity throughout the area. Two of the four lightning-caused fires (Copper Lake and Brush Creek Fire) experienced growth and will likely merge into one fire in the Copper Loop and Whatcom Pass areas of North Cascades National Park Service Complex. An additional fire, Little Beaver Creek Fire, was detected and is estimated at one quarter acre. The Chilliwack Complex is estimated 4,538 acres.    A pack bridge and a suspension bridge that are both potentially threatened by the Brush Creek Fire have been plumbed with pumps, hose, and sprinklers. OR Highway 350 (Little Sheep Creek Highway) in Wallowa County is closed between milepost 6 (six miles east of Joseph) and milepost 29, where the highway ends. Crews are battling the Double Creek Fire in the area that has resulted in some evacuations. Local traffic will be allowed, but residents should check with Oregon State Police for evacuation details.
