 Final News Release September 12, 2022  Davenport, WA – This is the final update for the Seven Bays Fire.  The Seven Bays Fire is located approximately 15 miles northwest of Davenport, WA. This fire started on Sunday, September 4th and has burned approximately 1,232 acres of rangeland, stubble and scattered forest lands. The fire is 100% contained.    Evacuations: No Evacuation levels.  Road Closure:  No Road Closures.  Sunday,   Fire fighters continued mop up along the fire perimeter extending more than 100 feet from the fire edge.  Repair work was completed on interior and perimeter dozer line.  Division A is in patrol Status.  This work increased fire containment to 100%.  Monday,  The fire will be returned to the local fire unit on 9/12/22 at 0900.    The fire is now in patrol status.   Team Three thanks the community of Davenport and the Lincoln County Fairgrounds for their assistance in the successful management of the Seven Bays fire.  When residents of...

 The Rum Creek Fire remains at 21,347 acres, jumping to 75% containment. This week, Josephine County will experience a reprieve from critical fire weather with forecasts calling for cooler temperatures, higher relative humidity, and possible showers tonight. Showers will help increase the moisture content of fine fuels, but larger fuels will require more substantial precipitation. Reports indicate non-residents are still moving beyond road closures. The public is reminded ONLY residents with proper identification are permitted beyond roadblocks. Please respect those who are returning to their homes and those who are working diligently to suppress this fire. East of the fire, road closures include Lower Grave Creek Road, Quartz Creek Road, and Galice Road at Hog Creek Road. South of the fire, Galice Road is closed at Peavine Road. Packwood Evacuation Update, September 11, 2022 7:00pm Update. As of 7:00 PM today (September 11, 2022), Hwy 12 and SR 123 are open in both directions. The following Forest Service Roads remain CLOSED: FSR46, FSR4610, FSR4612, FSR1266, FSR1260 and all associated spurs. La Wis Wis Campground is still closed until further notice. Also at 7:00 PM evacuation levels will change as follows: Timberline community to the SOUTH of Hwy 12 (noted in PINK in map below) is reduced to a Level 2: Be Set. All other areas including, Timberline community to the NORTH of HWY 12, Goat Rocks, High Valley and Packwood proper are reduced to a Level 1: Be Ready.   The Goat Rocks Fire is still a threat to the community with fire suppression activity still going on. Goat Rocks FireSeptember 11, 2022 10:00am Update  Overview: Located 1.5 miles NE of Packwood, WA in the Goat Rocks Wilderness on the Cowlitz Valley Ranger District. The Goat Rocks Fire is estimated to be 2228 acres in size. The incident was discovered on Aug. 9, 2022 and was partly suppressed by a rappel attack crew. Crews suppressed what they safely could, and the fire was monitored. On September 9, 2022 the fire began to increase in size during a high wind event.  Size: Approximately 2842 acres  Forest closures: US Hwy-12 is closed from Skate Creek and White Pass. Highway 123 is closed from US Hwy 12 to Ohanapecosh Visitor center in Mount Rainier National Park. Forest Rd. Additionally, 4600, 4610, 4612 and all connected spurs, and Trail #65 to Bluff Lake. Suiattle River Fire Update for September 11, 2022Weather: The Red Flag Warning has been extended through Sunday evening for dry and unstable conditions that have the potential to increase fire activity.  Weather conditions are expected to moderate after Sunday.  Overview:  Firefighters observed concentrated heat in the northeastern area of the Suiattle River Fire.  Updated infrared (IR) mapping is not available, but fire personnel don’t anticipate the fire to have grown significantly, and it has remained within the identified confinement lines.  Crews finished snagging Forest Road 2640 and will focus their efforts snagging Suiattle River Road (Forest Road 26) near the Huckleberry Trailhead and Buck Creek Campground today.  Heavy equipment operators are deepening the confinement line by brush clearing along Suiattle River Road.Minimum impact suppression tactics (MIST) are firefighting tactics with a high standard of care for the land. Rum Creek Fire passes the weather testMERLIN, Ore. – The Rum Creek Fire has now been tested by several days of critically low relative humidity, high temperatures, and periods of gusty winds. Few flare-ups were reported and no spot fires were found outside the containment lines. Acreage has not changed for two days, and containment has increased to 69% despite the adverse weather.Last night, an air mass moved into the area bringing clouds, cooler temperatures and higher humidity. Tonight and tomorrow, remnants of Tropical Storm Kay will pass over the fire vicinity, possibly bringing showers. HIGH DESERT TYPE 3 TEAMIncident Commander: Ron SimpsonSeptember 11, 2022 High Desert Type 3 Incident Management Team took command of the Crockets Knob Fire today. Weather: Today will be slightly warmer with calm terrain driven winds. Temperatures will reach the low-80s and relative humidity will drop into the upper teens. Moisture will steadily increase today with expected cloud cover by this evening.   Operations: Yesterday crews continued pulling hoses and excess equipment from containment lines. Much of the chipping and cleanup was completed along FSR 45 yesterday, and some work will continue today along other containment lines. Crews are checking containment lines for any remnant heat and mopping up using hand tools. Crews continue with suppression repairs along FSR 45 and other containment lines.
