Cold Creek Fire Morning Update 9-22-20 (Cold Creek Wildfire)

InciWeb Articles WA - September 22, 2020 - 5:51am
Smokejumpers and a falling crew cleaned out areas north of Highway 12 in the steep draws, dropping snags and burning trees to stabilize the area above the highway. Other crews worked to close of the northeast corner building fire line from the Sand Ridge Trail down towards the highway as well as keeping fire north of Clear Creek. A lot of good work was accomplished throughout the day as crews began to mop up inward one to two hundred feet along many parts of the fire line in efforts to further secure those portions of containment lines. Hot spots and torching may continue within the perimeter of the footprint of the fire as pockets of unburned fuel ignite over the next few days during warmer and drier periods. Crews and other resources are being released from the incident as appropriate as the fire activity is becoming more reduced. The reduction in the overall acreage of the fire is due to better

Brattain Fire Update-September 21, 2020 (Brattain Fire Wildfire)

Inciweb Articles OR - September 21, 2020 - 9:53pm
September 21, 2020 @ 9 AM Yesterday: Many more positive developments were made yesterday, especially with mop-up activity. We experienced only moderate fire behavior, with the same creeping and smoldering we have seen for several days, with smoke mostly coming from the interior in the northwest corner of the fire. The northwest corner has heavy down and dead fuel loading which continues to slowly burn. Crews have a good handle on the location of those hotter areas. We continued mop-up and patrolling lines in all divisions. Firing operations hastened burning of unburned fuels in the interior islands to reinforce fire control lines. Crews encountered mild, southwest terrain-driven winds and no red flag warnings. We are moving into more active repair/rehab operations, and a special suppression repair group was onsite beginning last evening scouting and looking at road and contingency lines. Incident operations are moving toward a more local incident management team by the end...
