Smoke Outlook 08/01/21 (Cedar Creek Wildfire)
Smoke Outlook for 8/1/21 Fire Brisk winds from the NW yesterday led to growth on the Cedar Creek fire in the area of Thompson Ridge to Gobblers knob, current size is estimated at 45,719. The Cub Creek 2 fire is 54,858 acres and 24% contained. Intermittent rain, cooler temperatures, and higher humidity give the firefighters some good opportunities for progress fighting these fires although poor visibility may make for limited ability for aerial water drops. Smoke Air quality remains very impaired throughout the Methow Valley and smoke has now traveled south to affect Chelan, Wenatchee, and beyond. The Okanogan Valley is not getting a break from the smoke either as fires in Canada and on the Colville reservation mean smoke comes their way no matter which way the wind blows. Smoke accumulated throughout the Columbia Basin overnight and most monitors east of the Cascades are showing impaired air quality. Areas that have avoided smoke...

July 31 2021 Daily Fire Update (Jack Fire Wildfire)
Fire Information: As of Saturday, July 31, the Jack Fire has burned 23,004 acres and is 63 percent contained. The fire is burning in steep, rugged terrain that is difficult to access, and it continues to be a challenge for firefighting operations. Fire behavior on the Jack Fire is most active south of Hwy 138 in the east, southeast, and south flank of the fire. Crews there are conducting firefighting operations as conditions allow, including at the 4770 road, on the 28 road, along the 530 road to Twin Lakes, and near Calf Creek. As burn operations occur, please be aware smoke may be visible to the public. North of Hwy 138, firefighters are successfully holding control lines and continuing mop-up, patrol, and monitoring activities on the northeast, north, and west perimeters of the fire. Due to the multiple small fire starts over the last two days, which ignited in a remote location along the Upper Steamboat Creek Drainage, fire officials have established a complex. Newly...
Bruler Fire Daily Update (Bruler Fire Wildfire)
Sweet Home, Oregon – Today, the South Cascade Interagency Type 3 Team will work on mitigating hazards in and around the fire perimeter. Additionally, they will continue to run sprinklers, mop-up, and strengthen contingency lines. Some of this work will be completed in about three days. Fire activity is expected to be moderate again given current weather conditions. Containment is at 53%. We would like to thank everyone who has supported and cooperated with us on this fire. The Willamette National Forest will maintain its large closure area to continue to prioritize safety of the public and firefighters. We would like to ask the public to respect this order. Elbow Creek Fire Daily Update - July 31, 2021 (Elbow Creek Wildfire)
Wallowa, OR – The Elbow Creek Fire showed no growth over the last 24 hours and now stands at 22,960 acres. Containment has reached 64 percent. The fire did flare up within containment lines yesterday as extreme heat, single-digit humidity and light winds increased fire behavior in unburned fuels. Because the fire activity was well within containment lines, firefighters had little concern. Just to be sure, however, two helicopters worked in unison to keep the fire in place. As mop-up operations continue, so too does the contingency work on the north side of the fire, with crews improving roads and removing roadside vegetation in the event a backup fire break be needed. A Red Flag Warning has been issued for this afternoon through Sunday. Thunderstorms are expected to develop over the area with erratic winds and chances for abundant lightning. There is also a high probability of heavy rainfall that could bring between ¼ and ¾ of an inch of rain. Evacuation levels within Wallowa...
Cub Creek 2 Smoke Outlook for July 31 - August 1, 2021 (Cub Creek 2 Fire Wildfire)
Active fire behavior is expected again today. No new infrared updates overnight so fire size is the same as yesterday. Cedar Ck is estimated at 41,142 acres with active fire in the Wolf Ck drainage, along Thompson Ridge, in the upper reaches of Little Bridge Creek, and in the Silver Star Creek drainage. Cedar Ck fire is 17 % contained with crews continuing structure protection. Cub Ck 2 is estimated at 54,852 acres and is 24% contained. Aircraft assisted with firefighting efforts on both fires yesterday.Smoke impacts to communities near the fires remains unhealthy to hazardous. A wind change plus a little precipitation in the area of Cedar Creek and Cub Creek 2 fires should quiet the fires and decrease smoke somewhat overnight although the amount of precipitation will not be enough to put the fires out. Smoke accumulations throughout the Columbia Basin will result in decreased air quality in Chelan today, although conditions should improve tomorrow. Watch for periods...
Bootleg Fire Daily Update July 31 (Bootleg Fire Wildfire)
Bootleg Update July 31, 2021 Location: 28 miles northeast of Klamath Falls, OR Size: 413,562 acres Personnel: 1,918 Containment: 56% (Klamath Falls, OR) – “At this point in the fire, we have to think about two things,” says Fire Behavior Analyst Chris Moore, “the fire we know about and the fire we don’t know.” The fire we know is the actively and recently burned portions of the Bootleg Fire. Much of the recent fire activity has been torching and burning pockets of fuel within the burn area. While the fire is not yet contained, a fire line has been constructed around the entire perimeter. Now crews are working to ensure that perimeter holds (is secured) to contain the fire. In some places, fire line is 100 to 150 feet wide from the unburned into the burned area. But some places may require as much as 300 feet to confidently expect the fire to remain contained. Along the south, west, and east perimeters, crews...

2021.7.31 Spruce Canyon Update #8 (Spruce Canyon Wildfire)
Colville, WA: Yesterday: Alpha Division (north of Highway 20) continued their mop up operations which includes gridding the fire to look for hot spots and making sure everything is out and cooled off. Palm infrared tools are being used to point out any additional hot spots firefighters can’t see with the naked eye. Firefighters on Division Zulu (south side of Highway 20) continued strengthening containment lines, working to clear brush and trees, mopping up hot spots and spot fires. The work on the south side of Zulu is challenging due to thick brush. This work is a slow tedious task and will take some time to complete and is critical for containment. Today marked the second day without the need for air support since the incident began. Containment was achieved for 55% of the 130 acres fire. At 8 p.m. the evacuation notices were lifted for both the areas in Level 1&2. Today: Firefighters will continue the mop up on Division Alpha and sign off the repair work on that side of the...
