Okanogan County Evacuation Notice: July 31, 2021 7:44pm Cedar Creek / Delancy Fire (okanogancounty.org) Level 3 Immediate Evacuation has been issued for the Twisp river Valley from Poorman Creek Road to the Buttermilk area. The Cedar Creek Fire is near the South side of Gobblers Knob and into Graff Creek and on Thompson Ridge and advancing east and south. Persons should be aware of their surroundings and take action NOW. This may be the only notice you receive. DO NOT wait for door to door notification, take action NOW. Level 3 Immediate Evacuation (GO NOW) is being issued due to the increased fire activity on the Cedar Creek Fire, near Gobblers Knob, Graff Creek, and Thompson Ridge Evacuate towards Twisp, DO NOT go towards Winthrop. Announcement From Okanogan County Evacuation (Cedar Creek Wildfire)
Winthorp, WA – Level 3 Immediate Evacuation (GO NOW) is being issued due to the increased fire activity on the Cedar Creek Fire near Gobbler's Knob and Graff Creek. A updated evacuation map is available on the Okanogan County Emergency Management website. Persons should be aware of their surroundings and take action now. Residents should not wait for door-to-door notification. Residents impacted by this notification are advised to evacuate towards Twisp. Morning Update July 31, 2021 Okanogan-Wenatchee National ForestWinthrop, WA — The Cedar Creek and Delancy Fires are burning on the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest in steep and rocky terrain with heavy dead and down fuel loading. These fires are being managed by Great Basin Incident Management Team 1. Cub Creek 2 Smoke Outlook for July 31 - August 1, 2021 (Cub Creek 2 Fire Wildfire)
Active fire behavior is expected again today. No new infrared updates overnight so fire size is the same as yesterday. Cedar Ck is estimated at 41,142 acres with active fire in the Wolf Ck drainage, along Thompson Ridge, in the upper reaches of Little Bridge Creek, and in the Silver Star Creek drainage. Cedar Ck fire is 17 % contained with crews continuing structure protection. Cub Ck 2 is estimated at 54,852 acres and is 24% contained. Aircraft assisted with firefighting efforts on both fires yesterday.Smoke impacts to communities near the fires remains unhealthy to hazardous. A wind change plus a little precipitation in the area of Cedar Creek and Cub Creek 2 fires should quiet the fires and decrease smoke somewhat overnight although the amount of precipitation will not be enough to put the fires out. Summit Trail Fire Morning Update July 31 (Summit Trail Wildfire)
Inchelium, WA – As of this morning, Northwest IMT 7 has taken command of the Summit Trail Fire burning on the Colville Indian Reservation, approximately 8 miles west of Inchelium, Washington and will build upon the good work already done.NW IMT 7 is also in command of the Chuwea Creek Fire. Firefighters are ensuring the fire’s perimeter is cold and are working to complete containment and repair efforts. It is 85% contained. There are no road closures in effect.Status: Yesterday, crews made headway with constructing direct hand line in the Beaver Dam Creek drainage along the southeastern permitter of the fire. 2021.7.31 Spruce Canyon Update #8 (Spruce Canyon Wildfire)
Colville, WA: Yesterday: Alpha Division (north of Highway 20) continued their mop up operations which includes gridding the fire to look for hot spots and making sure everything is out and cooled off. Palm infrared tools are being used to point out any additional hot spots firefighters can’t see with the naked eye. Firefighters on Division Zulu (south side of Highway 20) continued strengthening containment lines, working to clear brush and trees, mopping up hot spots and spot fires. The work on the south side of Zulu is challenging due to thick brush. This work is a slow tedious task and will take some time to complete and is critical for containment. Today marked the second day without the need for air support since the incident began. Containment was achieved for 55% of the 130 acres fire. Cub Creek 2 Fire Evening Update Effective Saturday, July 31, 2021 the Fire Information Line will be (406)-426-9595 (8:00 am to 8:00 pm), also the fire will go to once-a-day morning updates.Today crews were engaged on the eastern flank, constructing new dozer and hand lines in the Pebble Creek ridges, with the intent of establishing containment lines from First Butte up to North Twentymile Peak. Some of this area near Pebble Creek is rocky, so dozers are moving up to the top of FS Road 37. Aviation resources were flying throughout the day to support crews on the ground with multiple retardant drops. The western fire edge continues to be worked; crews have initiated mop up. Today, with the hot and dry conditions, flare-ups in the lower drainages continued but even with the high temperatures the Cedar Fire did moderate the Cub Creek 2 with due to smoke. As of today, July 30, 2021 at 12 noon the EVACUATION LEVELS issued due to the Cub Creek 2 Fire are being reduced. To view the current evacuation levels on the County Wide Advisory MAP visit: https://tinyurl.com/yj4awymmThe area labeled as EIGHT MILE (on the Okanogan County Advisory MAP) that was issued a Level 3 has been reduced to Level 2 (Be Ready).The area labeled as UPPER RENDEZVOUS, that was issued a Level 2 has been reduced to Level 1 (Advisory).The area labeled CHEWUCH will remain at a Level 2 (Be Ready).Citizens are reminded that ONLY property owners and residents living within the Level 2 areas are allowed access to those level 2 areas. Summit Trail Morning Update July 30 (Summit Trail Wildfire)
INCHELIUM, WASHINGTON– The Summit Trail Fire made a considerable push to the north and east yesterday, aided by low humidity, high temperatures and gusty winds, which are expected to continue today. The fire crossed Sitdown Creek, and crews along the fire’s edge are currently working to keep the fire from crossing the road. In the Lynx Creek Road area, the fire crossed the road and is now making its way up the west side of Lynx Mountain. Crews are looking for opportunities to construct containment lines as close to the fire’s edge as possible on the eastern flank. The fire is now visible from Twin Lakes, with growth expected to be primarily to the north and northeast today. In Twin Lakes, crews continued to prepare contingency lines near structures and along Bridge Creek Road, should the need for these contingency options arise.
