Smoke Forecast for August 2 - 3, 2021 (Cub Creek 2 Fire Wildfire)
SmokeThick smoke settled throughout much of eastern Washington yesterday and especially in the Methow and Okanogan Valleys leading to widespread poor air quality. Today winds from the NW will develop in the afternoon moving smoke to the east and air quality conditions will improve for areas west of the fires during the day. Mazama, Pateros, and Chelan should benefit in particular. Warming temperatures will lift smoke so all should expect periods in the afternoon with somewhat better air quality. Cedar Creek and Delancy Fires Morning Update August 2, 2021 Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest Winthrop, WA — The Cedar Creek and Delancy Fires are burning on the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest and public and private lands within Okanogan County. These fires are being managed by Great Basin Incident Management Team 1. Fire Information Line: Cedar Creek and Delancy Fires: 509-557-0740 (8:00 am to 8:00 pm) Fire Weather: Today marks the beginning of a drying trend. Humidity values will be 30 to 40 percent drier. In the morning winds will be light and terrain driven, becoming breezy in the afternoon, from the northwest. Wind gusts of 20 to 25 miles per hour are possible in the Highway 20 corridor and along exposed ridgetops and aligned drainages. The warming trend will continue Wednesday and Thursday and will bring the potential for gusty winds. Cedar Creek Fire: The fire is currently estimated at 48,871 acres and is 23% contained. ...
Summit Trail Fire Morning Update, August 2 (Summit Trail Wildfire)
Inchelium, Wa. – Firefighters are implementing a full suppression strategy on the Summit Trail and Chuweah Creek Fires. High humidity, a small amount of rain and relatively lower temperatures helped fire crews make substantial progress on the Summit Trail Fire yesterday. High humidities overnight allowed continued progress by night resources, particularly on the north and northwest edges.Crews are utilizing all opportunities to work directly along the fire’s edge. Mop up and reinforcement is underway to the west and on parts of the northern edge of the fire, while crews continue to deal with a few hot areas in the Beaver Dam Creek drainage. The line in Beaver Dam Creek drainage is now complete, but crews will reinforce it in the coming days.Efforts also continue to connect bulldozer and handlines along the eastern edge of the fire from Oregon City Ridge to Hall Creek Road to the north. Fire update 8-2-21 (Molybdenite Wildfire)
News Release August 2, 2021 Cusik, WA - The Molybdenite Fire is located about 9 miles Southeast of Ione, WA. It started on Saturday, July 31st and has burned approximately 60 acres of forested land. Two Bull Dozers and eight hand crews continued to work on constructing containment line around the fire yesterday. Two helicopters continued to assist fire crew efforts yesterday helping to slow fire spread and cool hot spots. Safety concerns: Snags and overhead hazards. Including falling of small diameter cedars. Road restrictions: Traffic will continue to be restricted to fire traffic only on all of FS 1936 / Paupuck Rd., FS 1935 / Harvey Creek just south of Hanlin Meadows to Sullivan Lake / Harvey Creek junction. Today: Crews will continue to work on extending containment line around the fire and mopping up hot spots. Goal is to keep the fire east of Redman Creek, west of Mineral Creek, south of Stimson Private Ground and north of FS 1936.

2021.8.2 Spruce Canyon Update #10 (Spruce Canyon Wildfire)
Colville, WA: Yesterday: Alpha Division (north of Highway 20), having been turned back over to the local agency representatives for DNR, continued under a patrol status. No new hot spots of issues where discovered. Firefighters on Division Zulu (south side of Highway 20) continued with their mop up operations which included gridding the fire to look for hot spots and making sure everything is out and cooled off. Palm infrared tools are being used to point out any additional hot spots firefighters can’t see with the naked eye. Hose lines were laid on the north side of the fire. Containment was achieved for 85% of the 130 acres fire. All evacuation notices are lifted for the area. Today: Firefighters will continue to patrol Division Zulu and will continue securing the containment line on the south and north end. They will continue repair work and the chipping operation. Molybdenite Fire Update - 8-1-21 (Molybdenite Wildfire)
News Release August 1, 2021 Cusik, WA - The Molybdnite Fire is located about 9 miles Southeast of Ione, WA. It started on Saturday, July 31st and has burned approximately 60 acres of forested land. Bull Dozers and hand crews worked on constructing containment line around the fire yesterday. They started at the base of the fire and worked up the flanks of the fire. Air resources assisted fire crew efforts yesterday helping to slow fire spread. Fire bosses and scoopers which are aircraft that scoop water from lakes, two helicopters and numerous retardant drops assisted firefighting efforts. Transition to Type 3 team, NE Team 3 took place at 6:00 am on August 1st, 2021. Road restrictions: Traffic is restricted to fire traffic only on all of FS 1936 / Paupuck Rd., FS 1935 / Harvey Creek just south of Hanlin Meadows to Sullivan Lake / Harvey Creek junction. Cedar Creek, Delancy and Cub Creek 2 Public Meeting Notice: Two Community meetings will be hosted by the Southern Area IMT 2 and Great Basin IMT 1. Detailed updates on the Cub Creek 2, Cedar Creek, and Delancy fires will be presented. Okanogan County Emergency Manager Maurice Goodall will discuss evacuation status, and spokespersons from the US Forest Service and other community representatives will be available to take your questions. WINTROP MEETING: Monday, August 2, 2021, at 6 pm in Mack Lloyd Park next to the Red Barn at 51 State Route 20, Winthrop. Summit Trail Fire Morning Update, August 1 (Summit Trail Wildfire)
Inchelium, Wa. – Changing weather conditions may moderate fire behavior on the Summit Trail Fire today as potential rain and thunderstorms move into the fire area. Accompanying those storms will be erratic and gusty winds, which could bring gusts of up to 40 mph. Still, with temperatures expected to be 10-15 degrees cooler today than yesterday, fire crews are anticipating diminished fire activity in certain parts of the fire, which will allow them to continue their work to contain the fire as small as possible. The Cub Creek 2 fire is 54,858 acres and 24% contained. Intermittent rain, cooler temperatures, and higher humidity give the firefighters some good opportunities for progress fighting these fires although poor visibility may make for limited ability for aerial water drops.Smoke Air quality remains very impaired throughout the Methow Valley and smoke has now traveled south to affect Chelan, Wenatchee, and beyond.
