Much of the growth was to the east and south which necessitated a new Level 3 evacuation on the Hwy 410 corridor from Hwy 12 north to Bumping River Road.  A new Level 2 Evacuation notice was also issued for the Hwy 12 corridor from Hwy 410 west to Tieton Reservoir Road. Power, which was disconnected in the early morning hours, was restored to much of the Highway 410 network by late afternoon. Summit Trail Fire Daily Update for August 20 (Summit Trail Wildfire)

Inchelium, WA – The Summit Trail Fire was started by lightning on July 12, and is burning on the Colville Reservation approximately 17 miles west of Inchelium in terrain that is steep, rough and often difficult to access.  On August 15, an unstaffed contracted masticator from Bay Center, WA working on the Summit Trail Fire was burned over and destroyed as a result of extreme fire growth that occurred that day and evening. Fire growth was estimated to be 10,000 acres with numerous spot fires ignited during the unprecedented event. There were no injuries, and the contractor is working to replace the property. In accordance with Federal Wildland Fire policy, a three-member team made of Bureau of Indian Affairs regional and national safety officers will conduct a review of the incident over the weekend to capture any lessons learned from the event.  On the Summit Trail Fire, cloudy skies and cooler temperatures continue to calm fire behavior so firefighters can safely gain ground on...

 There is a flash flood watch for early Saturday morning the 21st to late Sunday the 22nd for both fire areas. A steady north wind will continue throughout the weekend. There is a 70% chance of afternoon rain on the Chickadee Fire today, and 78% for Walker Creek in the evening. This light moisture event will last over the weekend and through the beginning of the week. However, a drier and warmer trend will return in the middle of the week. Crews expect to make good work of this cool and wet period over the weekend.Chickadee Creek: Firefighters battled spot fires yesterday and will continue those efforts today. Direct handline will be constructed to anchor south of Wickiup Creek to existing roadways. Feller bunchers continue prepping Sarsapian Road, connecting around problem areas and up around the northeast of fire, and securing roads to Cecile Creek.    Muckamuck Fire Update  August 20, 2021  Fire Information: (509) 202-4184  Email: 2021.muckamuck@firenet.gov Start Date: August 4, 2021    Cause: Lightning    Size: 12,063 acres    Containment: 10% Location: Approximately three miles northeast of Conconully Resources Assigned:  150 personnel; approximately 400 other personnel shared by Cub Fire   Current Situation: Yesterday conditions were favorable for firing the northwest area of the fire. Firefighters were able to get good consumption of vegetation as they fired off dozer lines constructed and prepped over the last several days. The area was mopped up over night and crews are expected to have that operation completed sometime today. On the south side of the fire, in and around Conconully the work was finished today.   Cedar Creek, Cub Creek 2 and Delancy Fires Daily Update August 20, 2021   Winthrop, WA — The Cedar Creek, Cub Creek 2 and Delancy Fires are burning on the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest and public and private lands within Okanogan County.   Fire Information Line: 509-557-0740 (8:00 am to 8:00 pm daily)   Cedar Creek Fire: The fire is currently 55,026 acres and 55% contained. There was no significant growth on the fire yesterday, and the same is predicted today. Crews are nearly finished constructing continency line along the Twisp River and will work on backhauling excess equipment from the area. Bulldog & Mack Mountain Fire Update 8-20-21 (Bulldog Mountain Wildfire)

This will be the final update from Northeast Washington Interagency IMT2.  Northwest Incident Management Team 7 will assume command of the fires tomorrow at 0600.  Bulldog Mountain Fire:  Yesterday firefighters completed work securing indirect containment line on the last portion of the NE corner of the fire.  This critical piece of fire line will be vital in keeping the fire from spreading closer to private land and residents on the Hodgson-Lakin Road.  Scouting continued on the west side of Bulldog Mt to access areas that more indirect containment lines may be established in the future closer to the fires edge.  Contingency fire line construction work continued through Davis Lake and Deadman Creek.  Today Northwest Incident Management Team 7 will be working with our team to facilitate a smooth transfer of command tomorrow at 6 am.  Fire crews will continue the tough work of strengthening existing containment lines and patrolling the fires edge in places.    The Bulldog...

 Inchelium, WA – The Summit Trail Fire was started by lightning on July 12, and is burning on the Colville Reservation approximately 17 miles west of Inchelium in terrain that is steep, rough and often difficult to access.  Favorable weather conditions and firefighters’ intensive work have made it possible to maximize resources for good progress on the fire’s containment. Officials at the Colville Tribes have reduced evacuation levels across the areas affected by the Summit Trail Fire.Yesterday, cooler temperatures and increased humidity continued to moderate fire behavior, making it safer for crews to make additional progress on both direct (situated directly on the fire’s edge) and indirect (positioned beyond the fire’s edge) containment.
