Air Quality Update August 31, 2015 (North Star Wildfire)

InciWeb Articles WA - August 31, 2015 - 3:51pm
Weather synopsis and smoke implications: Definite change in the pattern this week, with cool, cloudy, even occasionally rainy weather expected. Today more rain showers over most of the area will keep smoke concentrations in the Good range. Fire activity and smoke implications: Overall, reduced activity and minimal growth on most fires in the area today and tomorrow. Some localized fire activity within the perimeters of the Northstar and Stickpin fires will keep smoke levels at the Republic and Orient sites in the USG to Unhealthy range in the morning hours as smoke continues to accumulate in those river drainages overnight. Monitoring: With the more progressive pattern likely to move in this week, impacts are going to be more localized to places immediate vicinity of fires. We have installed a new monitor in Orient to represent impacts from the Kettle Complex fires in the Kettle River Valley, however it is not yet reporting.
