They are burning on the Okanagan-Wenatchee National Forest, northwest of Plain, WA.Special announcement- Northwest Incident Management Team 8, Incident Commander Kevin Stock, assumed management of the fires last night.Operations-White River FireAcres: 1,058, 1% contained.Location: Sears Creek area of the White River drainage, approximately 14 miles NW of Plain, WA.Helicopters checked fire behavior in the southeast corner of the fire, using buckets of water to reduce heat and fire spread. Rum Creek Fire community meeting tonight MERLIN, Ore. – A community meeting for the Rum Creek Fire will be held at 6 p.m. today at North Valley High School, 6741 Monument Dr., Grants Pass. It will also be broadcast live at www.facebook.com/rumcreekfire2022. Firefighters will continue to work on containment lines around the Rum Creek Fire. In the area south of Grave Creek, dozer lines are being constructed along ridgelines, tying to handlines completed yesterday. To the southeast, brush is being cleared along roads and dozer lines are being constructed to hold the fire west of Stratton Creek and north of the Rogue River. To the west, control lines are being constructed between Bear Gulch and Rocky Gulch. Smoke Oakridge may have some smoke in the morning again with downslope air flowing down the Salmon Creek drainage. In the afternoon light winds flowing up-valley will likely result in smoke production enough to affect areas east the fire. Waldo Lake may have fairly heavy smoke in the afternoon into the night if smoke near the surface of the fire does not get much lift like what happened on Monday. Crater Lake may receive some smoke from the Rum Creek fire to the southwest. Other locations further from the fire should not be affected by smoke from this fire.  Health and Safety Message Most healthy adults and children will recover quickly from wildfire smoke exposure. But certain people are at greater risk including people with respiratory or cardiovascular diseases, children and older adults, pregnant women, people of lower socioeconomic status, and outdoor workers. Please take precautions if you are at-risk.

 Firefighters building control lines, protecting structures MERLIN, Ore. – Firefighters are making progress protecting homes and structures, and establishing control lines to contain the Rum Creek Fire’s spread to the west, south and east. Crews are constructing a series of direct and indirect control lines on the west side of the fire. Firefighters are building primary containment line to protect the community of Galice.  To the east and south of the fire footprint, the fire team is using heavy equipment and hand crews building a series of containment lines based on roads and ridges. Air operations were limited throughout the day due to smoky conditions causing poor visibility. On the Slapjack fire, crews monitored for hot spots and installed water bars. Fire: The White River and Irving Peak Fires are burning near each other in the White River and Little Wenatchee drainages upstream from Lake Wenatchee. They have burned a total of 2,665 acres and are 1% contained. Firefighters north and east of White River, and south of Irving Peak, are patrolling and prepared if the fire approaches the fire lines. Today the fires are expected to continue slowly backing downhill with isolated flareups in heavy fuel. The Irving Peak Fire should also continue a slow flanking movement to the east along the slope. The Irving Peak Fire should be more active than the White River Fire due to more exposure to the sun and wind.Smoke: Smoke from yesterday and overnight will have accumulated in the drainages near the fires and Lake Wenatchee. The smoke will be held in place until a strong morning inversion lifts.
