Jones Fire Update: September 10, 2017 (Jones Fire Wildfire)

Inciweb Articles OR - September 10, 2017 - 3:01pm
Size: 8,536 acres Containment: 48% Cause: Lightning Resources: 406 Personnel The Jones Fire Base Camp, located in the Lowell Sate Park, will be moving this week to accommodate the Northwest National – Columbia Drag Boat Association annual boat races on Dexter Reservoir. This move will be effective Monday, September 11 at 6 a.m. The new Base Camp location will be Dexter State Recreation Site, including the South Bank Fishing Area. This area will be closed to the public for an undetermined amount of time to support the firefighting efforts. Cooler, moist weather has allowed firefighters to make substantial progress on the Jones Fire despite the steep, rough terrain and numerous snags. Drier weather is forecasted for Monday. This may result in more visible smoke. This dry period is expected to be short-lived as the ridge breaks down and allows moist, onshore flow to develop by mid-week. Weak weather disturbances will bring light showers to the area during the second-half of...

Hacia el Norte de el Incendio, se ha visto un movimiento mas activo en comparacion con el flanco hacia el Este. Cinco batallones han hecho un progreso significativo al unir secciones entre lineas de contencion y la...

As of September 10, the fire has burned approximately 29,432 acres. It is burning primarily within the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. Video: Mop Up by State Mob Strike Team 2 Engine (Jolly Mountain Fire Wildfire)

InciWeb Articles WA - September 10, 2017 - 1:14pm
Wherever and whenever possible, firefighters are fully engaged in "mop up" along established containment lines. It's hard, dusty, hot, and hazardous work. However, spirits are high amongst the 814 fire personnel assigned to the 29,432 acre #JollyMountainFire. Containment has increased to 10% and the 17 crews and 75 engines are feeling motivated by both a sense of duty to protect lives and property, and the feelings of gratitude that the communities of #Roslyn and #Ronald have been showing fire crews every morning and every evening.Using high tech heat detection devices, fire personnel "search and destroy" all of the remaining hot pockets above the private homes and along the containment lines. Using water and hand tools, fire fighters dig, mix and touch every piece of dirt to ensure that the heat has been removed.Watch the video at this link:

Video Update Transcript 9-10-17Good Morning, I'm Rick Miller, Operations Section Chief on the Eagle Creek Fire. And I'm going to give you an update of what we did yesterday and what the fire did yesterday and a little bit of what our plans are for today So I'm going to start on the west end over here along Highway 84 and the Columbia river in the Bridal Veil area. Yesterday we did some burnout. So as far as what the fire did out there yesterday it was a really good day, minimal fire activity. Operations in here were successful that we need to continue today so there will be smoke coming out in there today as we continue that. That was all looking good there yesterday. There are some spot fires that were around the main head of the fire that we have lined that we continue to monitor them and make sur they're not going to grow anymore. And then as we come along Highway 84 back to the east we identified some areas that the fire hasn't made it down to the highway, old Highway 30 or the...
