Updated Evacuation Orders (Angel Springs Fire Wildfire)
As per the Lincoln County Sheriff’s office, effective 10 a.m. this morning, the Level 3 evacuation order has been lowered to a Level 2 evacuation order. Previous Level 2 evacuation orders remain in effect. Level 2 evacuation orders indicate there is a significant danger to your area, and residents should either voluntarily relocate to a shelter or with family/friends outside of the affected area, or if choosing to remain, be ready to evacuate at a moment’s notice.

Twisp River Road #4440 from the intersection with Buttermilk Road #43 to the terminus at Roads End Campground. South side Twisp River Roads #4430, #4435, #4440 from the intersection with Buttermilk Road #43 to the end at Twisp River Horsecamp. All trailheads and trails originating from these roads are closed. Travel on Thompson Ridge Road #4410 and Little Bridge Creek Road #4415 is not advised. Specific trail, road, and area closures and a closure map for the fire can be found at the Inciweb site listed

Miles Fire Evacuation Area Update - August 7, 2018FlashAlert information provided by Jackson County Sheriff's OfficeTRAIL, Ore. – At the recommendation of fire officials managing the Miles (Sugar Pine) fire, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is upgrading and expanding evacuation zones in the area of Elk Creek and Lost Creek Lake. The upgraded Level 3 “Go” zone includes two addresses in the area near the intersection of Elk Creek Road and West Branch Elk Creek Road that were previously advised of a Level 2 “Be Set” evacuation. Another upgraded Level 3 zone is located on the north side of Lost Creek Road and contains no structures.Expansion of the Level 2 “Be Set” extends the Elk Creek drainage zone south to Highway 62, and along the west side of Lost Creek Lake, including the dam. Heavy smoke from area fires has stifled the fire behavior for a second day. YESTERDAY: Firefighters conducted strategic firing operations in all divisions of the fire to reinforce containment lines. Crews, engines and dozers worked to extend lines. Air resources focused on the northern and northeastern flank of the fire to cool down areas with heavy fuel loads. Structure protection firefighters continued to prep structures along the fire perimeter. Fire managers, in conjunction with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s office, amended the structure loss data. During night operations, firefighters monitored the fire, focusing on locations where strategic firing operations were conducted, to ensure heat and fire did not travel outside of established containment lines. The Community Meeting was held last night at the Davenport Grade School, with approximately 75 community members present. South Valley Fire Daily Update - August 7 (South Valley Fire Wildfire)
Dufur, OR – Current Status: Last night the fire perimeter was patrolled by a strike team of engines. They utilized handheld infra-red cameras to scour the landscape along the perimeter of the fire for any threatening hot spots. Infra–red cameras are used to reveal heat sources buried deep in the ground. Upon discovery, the spots are flagged for the night crews to work on and the next day shift to double check and completely extinguish. This is the pick and shovel work that is necessary to keep the fire from rekindling later this summer. Today, crews will continue mopping-up all smokes within 150 feet of structures located within and adjacent to the fire. Fallers are working to fall all dangerous trees within 300 feet of the fire line for safety and to prevent spotting out-side the fire perimeter. Acerage: 41,103 Containment: 38%Pacific Northwest Team 2 and Oregon State Fire Marshal Red Team have assumed command of the Klondike Fire. Combining resources from Taylor Creek and Klondike will streamline fire managers’ efforts to fight both fires and provide structure protection. This will improve efficiencies and enhance firefighter and public safety. The continued inversion provided crews with favorable firefighting conditions. As a result, fire continues to slowly back toward Galice Creek Road and Bear Camp Road. The established line between the Galice Community Center and Galice Creek is being held and reinforced. Northern Rockies Incident Management Team 1 is managing the Natchez Fire. Yesterday’s Activities: On the fire’s eastern flank, weather conditions hampered aerial firing operations, though ground crews continued to make progress. Their firing operations progressed northward toward the Taylor Creek Fire. Crews continued to patrol, mop-up and monitor firing operations on the primary containment line on the southeast side of the fire. Maple Fire Daily Update - 08-07-18 (Maple Fire Wildfire)
Hamma Hamma, WA – The Maple fire is located west of Highway 101, northwest of Hamma Hamma. The fire is burning in heavy timber, 200ft trees, mature cedar spruce fir trees. Elk Lake trail runs through the middle of the fire and Jefferson Creek runs at the bottom of the fire. The fire is in a remote location and steep terrain. Resources have been ordered but due to a busy fire season, resources are in high demand across the region. Participating agencies in fighting this wildfire include the Olympic National Forest and Washington State Department of Natural Resources. Western Washington Incident Management Team (WWIMT) led by Kent Stanford, Incident Commander, assumed command of the Maple fire on August 6 at 6:00 pm. A Type 2 team was ordered on Monday and will be arriving mid-day Tuesday. The Type 2 team will be assuming command of the fire on Wednesday. Weather: Continued sunny weather with areas of smoke. Winds will be west-northwest 4 – 8 mph with up to 15 mph on ridgetops. A warming and drying trend is expected through Thursday as high pressure builds over the area. A low pressure system will increase winds on Friday and provide cooler temperatures. Yesterday’s Activities: Firefighters continued to hold, mop up and patrol firelines on the entire north half of the fire. This portion of the fire becomes more secure each day. On the southeastern side of the fire, east of Cole Creek, crews used low intensity hand ignition to widen the blackened buffer zone that is securing the fire from moving east. Aerial ignition was not used due to smoke and limited visibility preventing helicopters from flying most of the day. However, for a portion of the afternoon, helicopters were able to make water drops on the southwestern fire flank as supervisors continued to develop strategies for initiating direct fireline construction. Cougar Creek Fire:The Cougar Creek Fire is 20 miles northwest of Entiat, and is reported at 6,169 acres. A total of 700 personnel, including 15 crews, 4 aircraft, 36 engines and 9 bulldozers are being shared between the Cougar Creek and Lost Fires. Burnout operations along the west side of the Tyee Lookout were halted Monday afternoon as fire activity increased on the Cougar Creek Fire. The fire moved into the Grandma Creek and Young Creek drainages late in the day and remained active in to the early morning hours. Firefighters again monitored and patrolled the Entiat Valley during the overnight hours. Crews are headed back into the area Tuesday to reassess suppression options for the day, with aircraft available to assist firefighters on the ground in their attempt to hold the fire along Tyee Ridge.
