Fires Strong West/Northwest winds resulting from the passage of a cold front will affect fires this afternoon and are predicted to result in fire growth. The Crescent Mtn. fire grew 542 acres in the last 24 hours, McLeod grew 256 acres, and Cougar Creek grew 52 acres. Smoke Smoke in the morning will concentrate near active fires. Long-Range Stable weather conditions return tomorrow after the wind event passes today. Areas near fires will continue to be impacted by smoke at times especially Winthrop, Twisp, and Plain although as fires are increasingly contained and controlled, smoke impacts should continue to slowly decrease.
