Plain, WA – Lightning started the White River and Irving Peak Fires on August 11. The fires are burning on the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, northwest of Plain, WA.  Suppression Strategy – Fire managers continue to implement a long-term strategy including the use of primary and contingency perimeter lines for containment. Tactics include completion and reinforcement of fire lines using roads and hand line. Operations – Over the next two days, NW Team 8 will be transitioning both fires to a local type 3 team. The incoming team will shadow today with a plan to take command of the fire tomorrow at 7 a.m. Firefighters will actively manage both fires over the coming weeks with a long-term strategy in place. Smoke may be visible over the next several weeks as remaining interior fuels continue to smolder and burn out. With moderating fire behavior, fire updates have transitioned to every other day meaning there will be no update tomorrow. Daily updates may resume if a change...

Double Creek and Eagle Cap Wilderness Fires September 6, 2022 Daily Update – 8:00 AM  Highlights: There was an increase in fire activity on the southern end of the Double Creek Fire on Monday afternoon. Fire activity remained relatively light on the Nebo, Sturgill, and Goat Mountain 2 Fires. In anticipation of extreme fire weather, Oregon Governor Kate Brown night invoked the Conflagration Act for the Sturgill Fire on Monday. The Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM) ordered five additional task forces to support the fire.  Double Creek Fire: 53,539 acres | 0% contained | 580 personnel assigned  The lightning caused Double Creek Fire is a full suppression fire, and the protection of lives and property remain the primary objectives of this incident. Double Creek and Eagle Cap Wilderness Fires September 6, 2022 Daily Update – 8:00 AM Highlights: There was an increase in fire activity on the southern end of the Double Creek Fire on Monday afternoon.  Crews wrap up tactical firing operations on Rum CreekMERLIN, Ore. – Night shift crews will spend tonight monitoring and mopping up from the last planned tactical firing operations on the Rum Creek Fire. Today, firefighters continued strengthening and reinforcing primary and contingency lines in the northwest corner of the fire near the Rogue River, as well as in the northeast corner near Grave Creek. The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for Tuesday due to high temperatures and low relative humidity. Forecasted temperatures could reach 105F, which would be the hottest since the Rum Creek Fire started Aug. 17. These conditions could promote rapid fire spread. Aviation resources supported firefighters on the ground with water drops on the fire, which was flanking at the far northwest edge of the fire footprint, and also on a hot spot in an unburned drainage in the northeast section.
