Fire Resources in High Demand (Cub Creek 2 Fire Wildfire)

InciWeb Articles WA - July 26, 2021 - 4:44pm
As we are focused in on the Cub Creek Fire, it is also important to take a step back and see that the nation is at Preparedness Level 5, the highest level possible, and it got there a month earlier than last year, so fire resources are in high demand. Where all those resources go is first prioritized at the National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC) in Boise and then again at the Geographic area. The impact of the lack of available people is being felt at fires across the nation. Today, there are fires in all ten Geographic areas of the U.S. and 22,000 firefighters and support personnel on incidents. There is even help from Australia by way of a 4000-gallon large air tanker (a 737) stationed in Boise, Idaho. And of those 22,000 resources, 7108 are at work today on over 663,000 acres of fire, just in the Pacific Northwest. The map shows it all – 16 large uncontained fires in the PNW, and 12 of them are in Washington. Already, fires are reporting that many orders for help are going...

Bruler Fire Update for Monday, July 26 (Bruler Fire Wildfire)

Inciweb Articles OR - July 26, 2021 - 10:15am
Sweet Home, Ore. – The Bruler Fire received an infrared flight yesterday, showing the areas of heat within the fire perimeter. Firefighters were able to focus mop up on portions of the fire that registered heat. This tactic ensures firefighters are setting up the next incident management team for success. The helicopter was not used yesterday, as the fire activity remained low. The helicopter remains available for the Bruler Fire today. Containment is now listed at 47%. Today, firefighters will continue to improve established contingency line on the southwest side of the Bruler fire. Mop up will continue on the contingency line for the next few days. Experience has shown that homes with defensible space, free of flammable fuels, can often survive a wildfire.  Defensible space later offers firefighters the advantage of extra room to operate equipment to safely reach and extinguish any active fire. There are many other things you can do if you are landscaping your yard or remodeling...
