* WHAT...Wet snow above 4000 feet. Additional snow accumulations of 2 to 6 inches, with the highest snow amounts above 5000 feet. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph. * WHERE...South Washington Cascades and the Northern and Central Cascades of Oregon. * WHEN...Until 7 PM PST this evening. * IMPACTS...Travel could be difficult at times. Be prepared for snow covered roads and slick surfaces. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...An active storm track will continue to produce accumulating snow across the passes in the Cascades into this weekend. However, there are two time periods when snow levels will likely rise to 5000-5500 feet and be far enough above the passes to temporarily limit snow accumulations. The first window where snow levels will rise above the passes will occur between 3 AM Friday and 9 AM Friday. Another round of warmer air aloft will most likely push snow levels above the passes Friday night as well. Skokomish River At Potlatch affecting Mason County. .The Skokomish River will rise into Moderate flood stage this afternoon then slowly recede into Minor flood stage tonight. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Skokomish River at Potlatch. * WHEN...Until further notice. * IMPACTS...At 17.5 feet, the Skokomish River will cause moderate flooding, with deep and quick flood waters inundating some residential areas, many roads, and much of the farm land in the Skokomish Valley. Hydrologic Outlook issued December 26 at 3:07PM PST by NWS Seattle WA

ESFSEW Additional frontal systems will bring precipitation to Western Washington at times through the weekend. While precipitation will be much less with the systems beginning Friday, the lack of much of a break will keep rivers over the Southwest Interior rising into the weekend. The potential for the lower reaches of the Chehalis River to flood on Saturday continues to be monitored. Please monitor the latest river forecasts from the National Weather Service for additional information.
