Red Flag Warning issued August 22 at 3:48PM PDT until August 22 at 8:00PM PDT by NWS Medford OR

August 22, 2024 - 3:48pm

Outdoor burning is banned during fire season. * AFFECTED AREA...The eastern half of California Fire Weather Zone 285, this includes Alturas. The eastern part of Oregon Fire weather zone 625, this includes Adel and Alkali Lake. * WIND...Southwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. * HUMIDITY...10 to 15 percent. * DETAILED URL...View the hazard area in detail at https://www.wrh.noaa.gov/map/?wfo=mfr Red Flag Warning 2024-08-22T15:48:00-07:00 2024-08-22T15:48:00-07:00 2024-08-22T15:48:00-07:00 2024-08-22T20:00:00-07:00 Actual Update Met Expected Severe Likely Modoc County Except for the Surprise Valley; South Central Oregon Desert including the BLM Land in Eastern Lake and Western Harney Counties SAME 006049 SAME 041025 SAME 041037 UGC CAZ285 UGC ORZ625 AWIPSidentifier RFWMFR WMOidentifier WWUS86 KMFR 222248 NWSheadline RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM PDT THIS EVENING FOR STRONG GUSTY WIND AND LOW RH FOR FIRE WEATHER ZONES 285 AND 625 BLOCKCHANNEL EAS BLOCKCHANNEL NWEM BLOCKCHANNEL CMAS VTEC /O.CON.KMFR.FW.W.0023.000000T0000Z-240823T0300Z/ eventEndingTime 2024-08-23T03:00:00+00:00 expiredReferences w-nws.webmaster@noaa.gov,urn:oid:2.49.0.1.840.0.96e434bdc9c1083b03a5d68d10c6588d399907cc.001.2,2024-08-21T13:15:00-07:00

Red Flag Warning issued August 17 at 8:09PM PDT until August 17 at 11:00PM PDT by NWS Pendleton OR

August 17, 2024 - 8:09pm
...STRONG TO SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WILL IMPACT THE CASCADE MOUNTAINS TODAY, EXTENDING TO THE EASTERN SLOPES, WHILE SOUTHEASTERN OREGON SEES DRY, WINDY, AND UNSTABLE CONDITIONS... .A potent weather system will bring a myriad of impacts to the forecast area today. For the Cascade Mountains and east slopes, strong to severe thunderstorms will trek across primarily the spine of the Cascades starting in the afternoon down around central Oregon, advancing northward into the Washington Cascades by the evening. While storms along the Cascades are expected to be accompanied by a significant wetting rain, isolated to scattered storms extending into the east slopes and portions of the Columbia Basin will be much drier, leading to critical fire weather conditions due to abundant lightning with a lack of wetting rain. For southeastern Oregon, this same weather system will usher in hot and dry desert air, leading to breezy winds combined with low RHs and locally unstable conditions. Showers and storms are not anticipated to track as far east as southeastern Oregon. Users should note that OR641 and WA691 are under partial Red Flag Warnings. The Warned zones include only the western half of each zone, and not the entirety of the zone. * AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zone 641 Lower Columbia Basin of Oregon. * IMPACTS...Thunderstorms will be capable of producing frequent cloud-to-ground lightning and erratic, gusty outflow winds. This combination will promote conditions conducive to new fire starts and rapid fire spread for new and existing fires. * THUNDERSTORMS...Abundant lightning with frequent cloud-to- ground lightning strikes. * OUTFLOW WINDS...Gusty winds up to 50 mph.
