Rattlesnake Fire Update – July 3, 2021 8 a.m.Current Situation – The Rattlesnake Fire has burnt 5,479 acres with 30% containment. The fire is burning on Prineville District BLM managed lands in the area of South Junction campground, the Warm Springs Reservation and private lands. The Rattlesnake Fire continues to be managed under unified command of Warm Springs Incident Commander Lionel Smith and Type 3 Central Oregon Fire Management Service (COFMS) Incident Commander Larae Guillory. There was minimal fire activity on the reservation side of the Deschutes. On the north and west side of the fire, crews worked on mopping up hot spots along the edges and working their way into the interior.  There is still work to be done seeking out hot spots and mopping up as needed along the east, south, and southwest flanks.  Drainages and steep ground in these areas are difficult and slow going for firefighters.  Winds yesterday carried embers across the eastern line and started a small...

 Rattlesnake Fire Update – July 2, 2021 8 a.m. Rattlesnake Fire - The Rattlesnake Fire is estimated at 5,433 acres with 10% containment. The fire is burning on Prineville District BLM managed lands in the area of South Junction campground, the Warm Springs Reservation and some private. The Rattlesnake Fire is under the unified command of Warm Springs Incident Commander Lionel Smith and Type 3 Central Oregon Fire Management Service (COFMS) Incident Commander Larae Guillory. Current Situation – Crews worked late into the night to complete burnout operations and secure lines around the fire.  Dry conditions, low humidity and winds continue to be the challenge for firefighters. Rattlesnake Fire Update – July 1, 7 p.m.Rattlesnake Fire - The Rattlesnake Fire is estimated at 5,000 acres with 10% containment. The fire is burning on Prineville District BLM managed lands in the area of South Junction campground and the Warm Springs Reservation. The Rattlesnake Fire is under the unified command of Warm Springs Incident Commander Lionel Smith and Type 3 Central Oregon Fire Management Service (COFMS) Incident Commander Larae Guillory.Current Situation - On the Warm Springs Reservation, crews feel confident about the lines and have started the mop up stages while progressing into the interior. On the north and northwest flanks of the fire across the Deschutes River, hand crews worked with Heavy Air Tanker support to tie lines together utilizing retardant drops. Rattlesnake Fire Update, June 30, 2021, 8:00pmCentral Oregon – Warm Springs Fire Management was dispatched to the RaJlesnake Fire reported approximately 2:00 pm on Wednesday, June 30 on the Warm Springs Reserva7on. Structure protec7on units responded and were able to prevent damage to two primary structures as the fast-moving fire burned approximately 100 acres on the Reserva7on before jumping the Deschutes River moving northeast onto Prineville District Bureau of Land Management (BLM) managed lands. Prescribed Fire Operations Update (Spring Prescribed Fire Projects 2021 Prescribed Fire)

 John Day, Prairie City and Hines, OR. – (June 28, 2021) Malheur National Forest Fire staff continue monitoring conditions across the Forest, including temperature, relative humidity, and fuel moisture. There are no prescribed fire units on the Malheur National Forest currently planned for active prescribed fire ignition over the next week.   Blue Mountain, Prairie City, and Emigrant Creek Ranger Districts will monitor conditions and reassess for the following week for additional ignitions.   All 3 districts will have resources patrolling previously burned units. Public can expect to see smoke and low to moderate fire activity in Murderers Creek 6, Soda Bear 4, and Galena 30 on the Blue Mountain Ranger District. Smoke will be visible from the Elk 16 units on the Prairie City district, and on the Emigrant Creek district, in Silvies units 7 and 12.   Murderers creek unit 6 will continue to consume unburned fuel along the north aspects of the unit boundaries. Containment hits 96%; all evacuations lifted on the Cutoff Fire (Cutoff Fire Wildfire)

BONANZA, Ore.— Containment on the Cutoff Fire has reached 96% and the remaining Level 1 (GET READY) evacuation has been lifted for all areas near the fire effective 8:00 a.m. on Sunday June 27, 2021. ODF Incident Management Team 1 will hand back responsibility for the Cutoff Fire to local ODF, BLM, and Forest Service units Sunday at 8:00 a.m. The local agencies will ensure the fire is monitored and patrolled over the coming heat wave and throughout the summer. With containment nearly complete Joe Hessel, Cutoff Fire Incident Commander said, “There is little chance of the fire escaping but it still needs to be monitored and patrolled especially through the expected hot weather.” The group taking command of the fire will patrol the fire’s edge, grid for residual heat, and keep the fire’s perimeter secure during the expected heat wave. “New fires have started in the surrounding area almost every day during this incident.
