The Bootleg Fire continues to burn on the Fremont-Winema National Forest and on private lands. Hot and dry weather conditions have continued overnight and are forecasted through today. Additional resources have been ordered and continue to arrive.OPERATIONSYesterday/Last Night: Low relative humidity and very dry fuels (brush, grass, trees) caused fire growth to the north and east, with fire moving closer to Sycan Estates and the area of the high-voltage powerline. Firefighters held fire movement in the south and west (approx. along Forest Road 4437). Suppression efforts were focused on areas closest to residents and communities to the south and east of the fire.Today: In the south and southwest portions of the fire (nearest to communities of High Tableland and Sprague River Valley), firefighters will secure and improve containment lines, continue structural triage, create defensible space around structures, and provide structure protection. Dry Gulch Fire Update 7-10-21 12:00 pm (Dry Gulch Fire Wildfire)
The Dry Gulch fire grew more than 13,000 acres yesterday. All significant growth has been to the west and south as the fire moves into increasingly rugged terrain and heavy fuels. Status: The fire has not moved significantly to the north and east in the past 24 hours. With its continued spread to the south and west, firefighters are establishing protection measures for threatened structures. These measures can include installing sprinkler systems and removing adjacent fuels. Weather: Current and forecasted weather remains unfavorable and fire spread is expected, with historically dry and hot conditions, and an unstable atmosphere favoring fire growth and spotting. Overnight, humidity levels remained extremely low allowing the fire to spread actively. These conditions have created an unprecedented potential for extreme fire spread and intensity. Winds today will be from the west and southwest which may result in increased fire behavior on the active western and southern edges of the...
July 10, 2021 Green Ridge Daily Update (Green Ridge - Turkey Tail Wildfire)
Green Ridge Fire Update PENDLETON, Ore. (July 10, 2021 – 11 a.m.) — Firefighters continue suppression efforts on the Green Ridge Fire, which has now burned approximately 143 acres on the Pomeroy Ranger District. The Green Ridge Fire, which is located approximately 30 miles east of Walla Walla, Washington, is comprised of two wildfires burning in steep, rugged terrain, consisting of mostly timber, grass and shrubs. Values at risk include structures in the area. Yesterday’s fire behavior consisted of active upslope runs, spotting and torching. Steep ground with rolling rocks and burning material is adding to fire growth and containment difficulties. Firefighters, aided by aerial resources, focused suppression efforts on protecting the values at risk and establishing containment lines to slow the spread of the fire. The fire has continued to spread to the southeast toward Turkey Creek as persistent hot and dry conditions contribute to active fire behavior. Today...

7/10/21 Fire Update (Lewis Rock Wildfire)
Mitchell, OR – Today firefighters on the Lewis Rock Fire will face the hottest temperatures of the weekend. And while fire activity has diminished, the heat and single-digit relative humidity could promote active burning in pockets of unburned fuels within the fire’s perimeter. Despite challenging firefighting conditions, fire crews continue to have success, increasing containment to 60 percent. The size of the fire remains 368 acres. Mopup has reached as much as 150 feet from containment lines to the interior in several areas around the fire. To assure full containment on a fire of this scale that involves large, heavy forest fuels, firefighters are shooting for 300 feet in most areas. Continuing reduction in smoke will occur as residual fuels are consumed. As the summer fire season progresses, homeowners and communities are encouraged to create defensible space that will help homes survive destructive wildfires. Go to Firewise.org for more information.
