Skyline Ridge Complex Information Saturday, August 7, 2021, at 8:30 A.M. (Skyline Ridge Complex Wildfire)

August 7, 2021 - 12:23pm
Firefighters begin control strategy for largest fire in Complex CANYONVILLE, Ore.—Firefighters are fighting all the fires in the Skyline Ridge Complex with direct action to minimize their spread. That same approach is being used on the southern edge of the largest fire in the Complex – the 1,600-acre Poole Fire, about 6 miles southeast of Days Creek. The northern edge of the fire is far more challenging – three steep ridges run north to south, split by two deep canyons. At the highest point the ridges are over 2,000 feet high, with slopes of 70 to 100 percent. After looking at the difficult terrain, fire managers and private and public landowners have agreed that the best chance of stopping the fire is to build a control line where the ridges converge at a lower elevation.Firefighters are building control lines along existing roads on the tops of the outer east and west ridges. Controlled burns over the next several days will help strengthen those lines to prevent the fire...

Fire The Middle Fork Complex is comprised of 12 lightning caused fires. The complex currently accounts for 3,308 acres and is 10% contained. Crews and heavy equipment made good progress implementing the primary suppression plan and will continue with favorable conditions today. Skyline Ridge Complex Information Friday, August 6, 2021 at 9 P.M. (Skyline Ridge Complex Wildfire)

August 6, 2021 - 9:56pm
Smoky morning gives way to clear afternoon and increased fire activity CANYONVILLE, Ore. - On the Skyline Ridge Complex, a thick inversion of smoky air Friday morning gave way to clear skies and fresher air. The improvement in air flow and rising temperatures caused many fires in the complex to become more active. Both O'Shea Creek and Poole Creek fires had flames cross portions of their fire lines Friday afternoon. Fire personnel will be working tonight to re-establish these lines and cool the fires edges. If conditions allow, they may burn roadside vegetation on Shively Creek, near the Poole Creek Fire. These burns operations will help stop the fire's spread to the southwest.Despite the increased fire activity Friday afternoon, most fires in the complex stayed within their control lines. Firefighters worked to improve control lines and cooled residual heat. McGinnis and Ike Butte fires have been mopped up 50 feet inside their perimeters, helping make them more secure. The Poole...
