Riverside Fire & Beachie Creek Fire– September 13, 2020 ‘Merge’ Overview (Riverside Fire Wildfire)

September 13, 2020 - 1:46pm
Curious or concerned about a potential ‘merge’ of the 133,000 acre Riverside Fire and the 188,000 acre Beachie Creek Fire? You’re not alone. Our intent with this overview is to help clarify what’s what and increase your understanding of these fires. As of September 13, 2020 at 1:00pm the two fires remain approximately one air mile apart. That’s a lot a ground as the crow flies and fire managers do not feel a merger is imminent. However, with the current combination of winds, record dry forests, and a lack of natural holding features in the Table Rock Wilderness and surrounding areas it’s still possible over the coming days that the fires could burn together. So what happens if they merge? We’ve fielded a lot of questions about mega-fires, a fire storm, or other extreme fire growth if the two merge. We’re happy to say that’s just not the case. What would actually happen out on the ground is that the two fires would simply grow together like two pieces of fabric sown...

September 13, 2020 - 11:28am
Springfield, Ore. –The hard work of wildland and structural firefighters on the Holiday Farm Fire east of Springfield is starting to pay off. The most current information estimates the fire perimeter at 161,826 acres. Many residents in the Mohawk Valley and north of the Linn County line are affected by the drop in evacuation levels.
