Northwest Incident Management Team 9 (IC-Brian Goff) is managing the Neals Hill and the Mud Creek Fires as of 6 pm August 7, 2020.  The fires which started on Aug. 5 are partially contained, and have hot shot and hand crews along with air resources working to contain the fires.Firefighters are located at spike camps near the fires. Based on infrared data collected overnight the fire is estimated at 340 acres. Yesterday the Entiat Hotshots contained work on east flank of the fire to tie in containment lines with smokejumpers in the northeast corner. These lines are anticipated to be finished by end of shift and smokejumpers will hike out. The Entiat Hotshots will remain spiked out and continue constructing line to the north up to the Entiat ridge.On the west flank of the fire crews continued falling hazard trees and brushing a spur road off the FS 6210 road, with the help of heavy machinery. The use of UAS (unmanned aircraft systems) continues to be advantageous in assessing the viability of safe line construction and work by crews on the west flank. Based on a reconnaissance flight last night the fire is now estimated at 327 acres.Due to increased fire activity yesterday, crews on the east flank were unable to work on containment lines. Smokejumpers worked on the northern tip of the fire and scouted the Entiat side of the fire. There was increased heat on the east side, but that has mostly cooled down and the fire is now slowly backing down the east slope. Crews will attempt to confront the east flank again today to tie into the smokejumper’s containment lines on the northeast corner. Yesterday, crews and heavy machinery worked on improving lines on the FS 6210 road. Yesterday, crews covered significant ground on the east flank of the fire and will be continuing work on the east side to tie in containment lines with 16 smokejumpers working in the northeast corner. Crews were successful in finishing brush and snag work along the 6210 road. The north side of the fire is burning into the old (2015) Wolverine fire scar, and fire activity is diminishing there.Increased torching and fire activity was observed yesterday on the west flank. Three crews and helicopters dropping water worked on confining this side of the fire. Today, crews will continue to work as far as safely possible and will scout out further options for confinement along the west flank.  There are now approximately 143 personnel currently assigned to the Chikamin Fire, which is estimated at 260 acres.  On Monday, firefighters, along with a heavy equipment, utilized the cooler temperatures and minimal fire behavior to their advantage and continued brush and prep work along FS Road 6210. As work along the 6210 road finishes up, crews will be moving both to the east and west of the fire to start containment on these sides. Smokejumpers continue to work on the northeast perimeter of the fire. Helicopters dropped buckets of water on the Southwest flank to keep the fire from crossing the 6210 road. The use of UAS (Unmanned Aircraft Systems) has also been beneficial in the steep terrain of the Chikamin Fire to capture aerial infrared images to find hotspots and watch the perimeter of the fire, limiting the risk and exposure of fire personnel on the line.An engine patrolled the 6210 road overnight making sure the fire did not spot to the other side of the road.Crews will...

The 129 - acre  Chikamin  Fire is located in the Chikamin Ridge area 22 miles north of Leavenworth, Washington. This fire is burning in heavy timber in steep inaccessible terrain. Approximately 75 personnel are assigned to the fire. Crews will be utilizing natural features, existing roads and trails, and the footprints of past fire areas as they construct fireline to contain the spread of the fire. Yesterday, fire activity was mostly active in ground fuels with some isolated single tree torching and short-range spotting.  Tonasket, WA – Anglin Fire – Yesterday, firefighters completed most of the rehabilitation work and mop up operations around the fire.  Repairing areas effected by suppression efforts is an important function and crews do their best to make the landscape look as good as they can before leaving the area.  Today, crews will be patrolling the line and removing any remaining equipment and litter.  Demobilization of resources will continue, and crews will travel back to their home unit or another assignment.  The Anglin fire is 90% contained.  The fire is now listed at 1992 acres (increase in acreage due to more accurate mapping).   Green Fire –All evacuation levels have been lifted. Greenhouse Daily FINAL Update 7/30/2020  Today is the final day that the Northwest Incident Management Team 6 will be directing operations for the Greenhouse Fire.  Command will be transferred from this Type 2 team to Mt. Tolman Fire at 6:00 a.m. on Friday, July 31st.Crews were able to perform mop up over sizable portions of the fire area.  The occasional gust of wind sent dust or ash into the air creating plumes that would dissipate as they blew over the terrain. Efforts today will focus on continued mop up, patrol, and removing signs and trash from the line.  On the northern section of the fire area, crews will be breaking down berms the bulldozers made when creating line to contain the Greenhouse Fire. Warm, dry, windy conditions are expected today. Temperatures are predicted to be between 102 to 104 degrees, with humidity near eleven percent.  Wind gusts could be over 20 miles per hour. Tonasket, WA – The Anglin Fire – Crews completed their last night shift last night after working to patrol the fire line. Firefighters will work on hot spots and rehab items such as fencing and gates that were damaged from the fire or used for initial attack operations. Today some crews will start the demobilization process and head to another fire or back to their respective jurisdiction.  The Anglin fire has a line around it and once those lines are 100% secured and adequate distance in from the line has been secured the containment numbers will rise. Tonasket, WA – The Anglin Fire – Firefighters continue to make excellent progress despite the intense heat that has enveloped the region.  Crews worked to complete the last remaining containment lines and start the mop up process.  Aircraft flew in support of the firefighters on the ground.  The Anglin fire is 50% contained and level 3 evacuation orders have been removed. A level 2 evacuation order will remain in place for Rehmke Rd. south of Siwash Rd. and all roads connecting to Rehmke Rd. Level 1 evacuations are still in place for the Cayuse and Island Mtn. areas.
