Skyline Ridge Complex Tuesday Morning Update 8/3/21 (Skyline Ridge Complex Wildfire)
Fire activity increased on several incidents within the Skyline Ridge Complex Monday evening which resulted in active fire behavior well into the night. As of Tuesday morning, the combined size of the fires within the complex is estimated to be about 225 acres, with the majority of the burned area coming from the O’Shea Creek Fire, the Poole Creek Fire, and the Ike Butte Fire. Today, 115 firefighters and four helicopters will be engaged on the various fires within the complex with the objective of fully extinguish several small fires in addition to engaging on the larger incidents. Room @ 7:30 p.m. Lick Creek Fire: The Burn Area Emergency Response (BAER) Team assessment will be utilized for forecasting the preparation needs of the areas at greatest risk for runoff and flooding. Continued smoke will be visible as unburned pockets of vegetation inside the fire perimeter are consumed. Crews will continue to mop-up any interior pockets of heat and patrol until full containment is achieved. This fire remains at 90% contained. Green Ridge Fire: The fire continued backing slowly toward the Tucannon River in the Ladybug Campground area holding within primary containment lines. 8/3 Smoke Outlook for Cedar Creek, Delancy and Cub Creek 2 Area Fire Hot temperatures are expected today with a heat advisory in effect for the area. Sun and heat on the fires mean they will burn actively. The possibility of thunderstorms in the afternoon could bring brisk and erratic winds. Cedar Creek is now 50,406 acres (+1635) and 23% contained. Cub Creek 2 is 58,793 (+0) and 24% contained. Skyline Ridge Complex - Evening update for Monday, August 2nd DFPA crews, industrial resources, and contract crews assigned to the Skyline Ridge Complex remained engaged on the multiple lightning caused fires throughout the day and were able to take several small fires out of play. The high afternoon temperatures combined with gusty winds and low relative humidity levels resulted in active fire behavior which challenged containment lines on several of the larger fires. Increased fire activity on the larger fires in the area continued into the evening, resulting in an orange glow that was highly visible throughout the area.
