Smoky morning gives way to clear afternoon and increased fire activity CANYONVILLE, Ore. - On the Skyline Ridge Complex, a thick inversion of smoky air Friday morning gave way to clear skies and fresher air. The improvement in air flow and rising temperatures caused many fires in the complex to become more active. Both O'Shea Creek and Poole Creek fires had flames cross portions of their fire lines Friday afternoon. Fire personnel will be working tonight to re-establish these lines and cool the fires edges. If conditions allow, they may burn roadside vegetation on Shively Creek, near the Poole Creek Fire. These burns operations will help stop the fire's spread to the southwest.Despite the increased fire activity Friday afternoon, most fires in the complex stayed within their control lines. Firefighters worked to improve control lines and cooled residual heat. McGinnis and Ike Butte fires have been mopped up 50 feet inside their perimeters, helping make them more secure.The Poole...

The Devil's Knob Complex is a grouping of 52 lightning caused fires with the majority burning on the Tiller Ranger District, Umpqua National Forest. Summary: Southeast WA Type 3 Incident Management Team assumed command of the Moe Canyon fire at 6:00AM August 05, 2021. The fire was reported at 6PM August 03. Initial attack was carried out by crews from WA DNR and USFS supported by aircraft. The fire is burning in steep, rugged terrain 10 miles NW of Entiat WA. Today: Line progress continued today along the northern perimeter of the fire. Hose lays were established on the northwestern perimeter while hand crews continued to improve containment line on the northeastern edge. Dozers also worked on the northeaster perimeter. To the south of the fire, dozers were successful in constructing a contingency line parallel to and just south of the Chief Joseph-Monroe transmission lines on Roaring Ridge. News Release  - August 6th, 2021 Tonasket, WA:  The Walker Creek Fire started on August 3rd at approximately 3:22pm.  It is located approximately 22 miles east of Tonasket and 1.5 miles southeast of Bonaparte Lake.  Yesterday, crews continued to strengthen dozer lines and made direct line where possible.  The fire spotted over the fire line on the northern section of the fire.  Aerial support through retardant drops and helicopter bucket water drops were utilized to contain the spot, allowing crews to work on constructing a new dozer line and hand line where necessary.  A spot fire also occurred on the southern section of the fire with crews and a dozer working on containing that section of the fire with a new line.  The Spur fire has burned across USFS 0100 and it backing towards Bonaparte Lake, despite several retardant drops along the fire line.  Rapid spread and spotting from Spur Fire into this morning has caused a spot fire over the Bonaparte Lake Road.  Spur fire has...

Lick Creek Fire: A plan is being put together for the needs of the areas at greatest risk for runoff and flooding as proposed in the BAER Team assessment. Smoke will continue to be visible as unburned pockets of vegetation inside the fire perimeter are consumed. Crews will continue to mop-up any interior pockets of heat and patrol until full containment is achieved. This fire remains at 90% contained.Green Ridge Fire: Gusty winds were experienced from a cold front passing through the area overnight. This front also brought light rains and lightning. Containment lines were tested, when winds carried embers about one and a half miles across the line causing spot fires at the 46 Road and Drop Point (DP) 261.  Bull Complex Update  (formally called Janus Complex)                                                                        Friday, August 6, 2021 10:00 a.m.  The Janus Complex was renamed the Bull Complex today. The new name reflects all the fires within the complex rather than the one fire named Janus. The fires in the Bull Complex are: Janus, Ridge, Kola, Round Lake and Ogre. This change is in name only and will not affect the operational plan.  Significant progress was made yesterday mopping up Round Lake and Ogre Creek Fires. Two newly arrived water tenders were an asset in expanding the water capacity available for those two fires. Firefighters expect to call them both contained later today.  On Janus, the largest fire in the complex, work is being prioritized on the southern flank of the fire along Forest Roads 4696 and 6370.   News Release August 6, 2021 Cusik, WA - The Molybdenite Fire is located about 9 miles Southeast of Ione, WA. It started on Saturday, July 31st and has burned 55 acres of forested land.    Six hand crews and eight engines continued to work on mop up operations and overall fire containment has increased to 70%. One crew remains out on initial attack to another fire starts in the area to support local jurisdictions.   This evening at 18:00 the fire will transition from the type 3 incident management team to local jurisdiction type 4 team. The resources that continue to remain working this fire will move base camp to Sullivan Lake Ranger Station from the Kalispel Tribe Pow Wow grounds. GLIDE, Ore. – Seasonal temperatures and higher humidities are expected to continue through the weekend, but temperatures will climb back into the 90s early next week, with possible Red Flag conditions Tuesday.   “We need to take advantage of this moderated weather,” said Incident Commander Brian Gales for Northwest 13 IMT, which is managing the Rough Patch Complex, Jack Fire and several smaller fires in the area. “We need to engage in the right place, with the right tactics to maximize the resources we have.”   For the safety of the public and firefighters battling the Rough Patch Complex and Jack Fire, several new closure orders are now in effect.   The Umpqua and Willamette National Forests have closed Steamboat Campground, Steamboat Falls Campground, Canton Creek Campground, Musick Guard Station and Mineral Campground.
