Bridge Creek fire update for September 7, 2017 (Bridge Creek Fire Wildfire)

InciWeb Articles WA - September 7, 2017 - 9:47am
For Immediate Release Good progress continues on the Bridge Creek Fire with 85 percent containment now reached. Most of the remaining work to be done will involve firefighters mopping up and securing the line throughout the fire perimeter. Heavy smoke in the area has had a dampening affect over fire behavior providing opportunity for crews to accomplish more of their daily objectives and tasks. As the smoke lifts, fire activity has the potential to increase with torching and burning in isolated areas of unburned fuels in the interior. The use of the hand held infrared devices also continues as firefighters search for hot spots. In addition, fire crews are tasked with removing of fire hose and pumps from the line. Yesterday, firefighters were able to collect nearly 4 miles of hose along Division A, the western perimeter, but much of the hose along the line is still yet to be collected. Resource advisors are working closely with operations personnel to assess the needs and repair...

Norse Peak Fire Update Thursday, Sept 7, 2017 (Norse Peak Fire Wildfire)

InciWeb Articles WA - September 7, 2017 - 9:12am
FIRE SUMMARY As additional resources begin to trickle in to help established personnel battle the Norse Peak and American fires, a change in the weather also could aid in the fire fight. Two hand crews from the Washington National Guard are expected to hit the fire lines today which will help strengthen firefighter numbers and allow a shift of resources to more pressing parts of the fire. Cooler, moist air is forecast to push in off the Pacific Ocean slowly today. This incoming marine layer is expected to drop temperatures, raise humidity levels, and bring winds out of the west and northwest – all of which could prove beneficial to slowing the fire’s western spread. Yesterday, a team of engines and one hand crew assigned to the Norse Peak Fire double checked and ran the sprinkler systems at Gold Hill as well as laid the ground work for similar setups throughout the Pierce County side of the fire. Work was completed on hose lays and sprinkler system in several areas around...

Umpqua North Complex Morning Update, September 7, 2017 (Umpqua North Complex Wildfire)

Inciweb Articles OR - September 7, 2017 - 8:15am
Current Information:On Wednesday, areas on the Umpqua North Complex had minimal fire activity due to the predicted change in the weather pattern. The incoming weather from the west brought cooler temperatures and higher relative humidity, which also meant a change in fire behavior. Scattered thunderstorms dampened the fire and minimized fire activity. However, heavy fuel loads will continue to burn and hold heat depending on the amount of precipitation an area receives. Along Forest Road 28, crews secured containment lines utilizing the powerline corridor, dozer line, and FR 3701. A portion of a burn out operation was completed along FR 28 and FR 3701 in order to prevent the fire from spreading north and east toward values at risk and populated areas along Highway 138 East. In addition, the northeastern boundary of the Brokentooth Fire was prepped for future burnout operations if needed when weather conditions allow. Further to the east, the Rattlesnake Fire was monitored and...
