2018-08-23-Spanish-Smoke Outlook North Columbia Basin (McLeod Fire Wildfire)

8/23 Natchez Fire Update (Natchez Fire Wildfire)
8/23 Natchez Fire UpdateHappy Camp, CA – A ridge of high pressure has moved into the area. Fire activity is likely to be reduced due to shading from trapped smoke. It will be warm, dry and smoky with valley and ridge daytime temperatures in the 80s. Relative humidity levels are forecast to range from the upper 20s to low 30s. Winds will be light and variable with gentle breezes less than 10 mph. Upslope gusts may occur where wind and terrain align during afternoon valley heating. Firefighters will continue mopping up hot spots identified by IR flights, chipping debris, back hauling equipment and patrolling from Mud Lake north around the northern tip of the fire perimeter and then along the entire eastern flank to the 2017 Eclipse Fire footprint. Structure protection resources completed work along Forest Road 48 (Grayback Road) and are now assessing and preparing homes and infrastructure in the Takilma and Sunstar communities, located northwest of the fire. Watson Creek Fire Daily Update 8-23-2018 (Watson Creek Fire Wildfire)
Firefighters on the line today will be working against increased winds over the fire area. Fire behavior is expected to be very active by late morning. Last night crews were able to catch any spotting across fire lines even as visibility on the fire decreased, and were able to conduct successful firing operations in the Hadley Butte area, approximately 4 miles west of Paisley. The total acreage is now at 40,272. A 6,500-gallon heliwell has been established at Coffee Pot Flat to reduce turn-around times on water drops for the helicopters working hot spots. Visibility remains a concern for aviation resources and may be reduced by smoke from this and surrounding fires through mid-afternoon. A dry cold front is predicted to bring gusty winds with lower relative humidity recoveries to the fire area today through Friday. Southerly winds in the morning are expected to gradually become westerly and eventually northwesterly. Winds are forecast to be strongest in the afternoon and...
