Warm, dry weather spurs additional Pincer Creek Fire growth; smoke anticipated over greater Puget Sound areaEverett, WA, Aug, 12, 2021— Fire managers are continuing to report growth on the Pincer Creek Fire, now estimated at 153 acres, as it creeps and smolders through heavy dead and down timber in the Glacier Peak Wilderness.  Bulldog Mountain Fire:  Yesterday firefighters observed increased fire activity due to the dry conditions.  Helicopters were used throughout the day to assist crews on the ground where the fire was most active.  Multiple pieces of heavy logging equipment worked all day to help lessen the fuel load along identified indirect and contingency containment lines.  Today fire managers are paying close attention to the weather as high pressure builds over the fire through Friday night.  Winds are predicted out of the north today at 4 to 6 mph with brief gusts from the north up to 15 mph.  Residents around the Bulldog Mtn Fire should remain vigilant and pay close attention to reliable information sources for current fire alerts.  Citizens are strongly encouraged to sign up for alerts at Ferry County Alerts.  Motorists traveling on the Boulder Hwy should be vigilant and watch for heavy equipment and firefighters turning off and onto the roadway.  There are 175 personnel assigned to...

Bootleg Fire Update, August 12, 2021  Yainax Fire   Location: 10 miles NE of Bonanza  Size: 84 acres  Containment: 70% (Klamath Falls, OR) – Firefighters continue to monitor and patrol the perimeter of the Bootleg Fire while demobilizing equipment to make it available for other wildfires in the region. With continued progress made, the Walrus Fire was put into patrol status today and incident managers anticipate the Yainax Fire will be put into patrol status tomorrow. The Burned Area Emergency Response (BAER) Team continues their assessment of the impacts caused by the Bootleg Fire suppression activities. It is anticipated that the BAER  assessments will be completed by late August 2021 with the stabilization plan implemented by the Fremont-Winema National Forest shortly after. Red Flag Warning For Dry and Unstable Conditions until 11:00 p.m.CANYONVILLE, Ore.— Crews patrolling several of the smaller fires in the western part of the complex report that although the fires continue to hold heat, they remained inside the fire lines throughout the day. Most of the fires around the complex are in mop-up and patrol status. Fire hose is being left in place as a precaution.Last night, crews on the northwest end of the Poole Creek Fire completed operations to bring the active edge of the fire against an area of burnt fuel. Lakeview, Oregon, August 11, 2021 – A Burned Area Emergency Response (BAER) Team started on Monday, August 9 in Klamath Falls, Oregon to begin their assessment of the Bootleg Fire. The fire covered 413,765 acres of land on the Fremont-Winema National Forest, and neighboring state and private lands. BAER is an emergency program aimed at managing imminent unacceptable risks to human life and safety, property, or critical natural and cultural resources from post-wildfire conditions. The Team, comprised of U.S. Forest Service & Department of Interior employees who specialize in multiple resource areas, is conducting field surveys and using science-based models to rapidly assess watersheds on National Forest System lands, then inventory BAER Critical Values, assess risk and determine the need for emergency measures and treatments on National Forest System lands.  SWEET HOME, Ore., Aug. 11, 2021 — Effective as of Aug. 11, officials greatly reduced the size of the Bruler Fire closure area and all recreation sites and trails in the vicinity of the Bruler Fire have reopened. The footprint of the Bruler Fire has been held to 195 acres for the last two weeks due to the cooperative efforts of the Incident Management Teams, the Forest Service, Oregon Department of Forestry, and adjacent private timberland owners.  While it is not possible to completely put the fire out due to steep, rugged country, rolling rocks, and large trees falling, crews have established a line around the fire, with sprinklers around the entire perimeter.
