Orient, WA - The Nine Mine Fire is located 4.5 miles south / southeast from Laurier, WA. This lightning caused fire started on Wednesday, August 4th and has burned approximately 157 acres of forested land. Evacuations: Level 2 evacuation, for ONLY 3733 A-Z, N. Sand Creek Rd ONLY. This is due to weather, fire behavior and burnout operations. Effective this evening 8.15.21 this level 2 evacuation area will be placed in level 1 status. The remaining Sand Creek addresses and Imperial Way will remain under level 1 evacuation. Road Closures: No closures Yesterday, firefighters continued mop up operations along the NW section of division Alpha and Whiskey. Helicopter water drops supported mop up operations for ground crews. Overnight a second IR flight was completed. The aircraft is equipped with the ability to Infrared scan the entire burn area and map hot spots within containment lines. Bull Complex Fire Update August 15, 2021 Fire Information Line: 503-668-1437 For Immediate Release Overview: The Bull Complex continues to receive much needed resources to actively meet full suppression objectives of the incident. Moderate growth continues with the Janus, Ridge, and Kola Fires as they burn in the Bull of the Woods Wilderness. Current Situation: Infra-red mapping detected moderate growth of the Janus, Ridge, and Kola Fires. Fire managers utilize infra-red (IR) sensing technology to accurately map wildfire activity and growth. Mapping showed two of the fires, the Janus and Ridge Fires, have merged. Moving forward we will be updating to four fires, the Janus, Kola, Round Lake, and Ogre Creek Fires. WINDY PASS FIRE UPDATE Date: Sunday, August 15, 2021 – 7:30 a.m. Contact: Fire Information, 509-653-1468 Acres: 89 Containment: 70% Personnel on the ground: 98 Current Status: The fire is in full mop-op mode, and crews are continuing to monitor the perimeter for hot spots, completing mop-op where those spots presented a threat to control lines. Fire behavior is minimal and smoldering, but no active fire behavior has been observed. There is no anticipated change in the fire spread. Terrain within the burned area is steep and largely inaccessible, and smokejumpers assisted suppression efforts earlier in the week. Ground crews remain onsite. The fire is being managed jointly with the Schneider Springs Fire on the Naches Ranger District to the southwest, and some resources that were on the Windy Pass Fire have now been reassigned to assist suppression efforts in that area. Crews Mop-up the Poole Creek FireCANYONVILLE, Ore.— The Poole Creek Fire has a completed control line around it, crews will continue with mop-up today. Mopping up is very detailed, digging out burning roots and using water to remove all remaining heat. Containment has climbed to 34%.At this stage in the fire residents and visitors can expect to see a red glow at night, especially within the interior of the fire. Smoke and occasional flare ups may still be visible. Firefighters and engines will continue to patrol the fire 24/7 until it is no longer required. Although mopping up is now the main focus, crews have a number of other tasks to complete. They will also be locating, identifying and mitigating hazard trees. The Upper Lime Creek Fire, started by lightning on August 4, is also burning on the Colville Reservation approximately 6 miles north of Keller. Both fires are being managed by Northwest Incident Management Team 10, with 471 personnel engaged in fighting the fires.Poor air quality persisted through Saturday as heavy smoke from fires in Washington and British Columbia impacted the region, and decreased visibility kept aircraft from flying. Hot and dry weather continues to promote active fire behavior. Despite these factors, there was no growth on the Upper Lime Creek Fire and minimal growth on the Summit Trail Fire. Muckamuck Fire Update August 15, 2021 Fire Information: (509) 202-4184 Email: 2021.muckamuck@firenet.gov Start Date: August 4, 2021 Cause: Lightning Size: 1,924 acres Containment: 5% Location: Approximately three miles northeast of Conconully Resources Assigned: 86 personnel Current Situation: Building on the completion of the initial line around the perimeter of the Muckamuck Fire the previous day, crews were able to focus their attention on direct attack and strengthening contingency lines. Terrain and weather conditions were in our favor allowing scooper planes and helicopters to drop water on the fire. As the fire moves into spruce trees there is a higher possibility of spot fires, any spots would be short range if it does occur. Night patrols will continue over the next few days.
