Get those outdoor tasks and activities accomplished. Check air conditioning filters and change if necessary. Fire The Middle Fork Complex is comprised of the Kwis, Gales, and Ninemile fires. The Incident Management Team is also managing the Knoll fire which will be turned back over to the local unit today. The Middle Fork Complex is currently 9,253 acres and is 7% contained. The Knoll fire remains at 544 acres and is now 50% contained. Smoke Discussion Today good ventilation and increasing west winds will support continued clearing of smoke. West of the Cascades air quality will improve early in the day. Forecast areas to the east will lag behind as smoke pushes from the southern Willamette Valley over the Cascades.    Devil’s Knob Complex Morning Update Northwest Incident Management Team 8, Incident Commander, Kevin Stock August 16, 2021 The Devil's Knob Complex is a group of lightning-caused fires with the majority burning on the Tiller Ranger District, Umpqua National Forest and on private lands protected by Douglas Forest Protective Association. The Devil’s Knob Complex is situated between the Rough Patch Complex and Jack Fire to the north, which is being managed by Great Basin Team 2 and the Skyline Ridge Complex to the southwest, which is being managed by Oregon Department of Forestry Team 1. The Devil's Knob Complex is managed by Northwest Incident Management Team 8 from an incident command post at the Milo Academy near Tiller, Oregon. Great Basin Team 2 is scheduled to assume command of the Devil's Knob Complex on Wednesday, August 18 at 6 AM.  Preparations for transfer of command are underway. Bulldog & Mack Mountain Fire Update 8-16-21 (Bulldog Mountain Wildfire)

 Bulldog Mountain Fire:  Yesterday the fire grew late in the afternoon with the change in weather that brought clearing skies and breezy conditions.  Firefighters worked through the night to keep the fire within established indirect containment lines.  Helicopters were called to work with crews on the ground to keep the fire west of FS Road 6110.  Heavy equipment continued working to establish contingency fire lines around the fire.       Today early assessments will be conducted on fire lines that have been established and adjustments to those lines based on the fire behavior observed.  Contingency fire line construction will be focused near Davis Lake and Deadman Creek.  Aircraft will be requested to assist if smoke conditions allow.   The Bulldog Mountain Fire started August 5. 2021, located 20 miles north of Kettle Falls.  Closures:  The Umpqua and Willamette National Forests have updated existing closure orders to encompass the Rough Patch, Jack, Archie Creek and Devil's Knob Fire Areas. This includes Canton Creek Campground, Musick Guard Station and Cover Campground.     Roseburg District Bureau of Land Management has expanded its closure area to include the Scaredman Recreation Site. Francis Creek Road from the junction with Canton Creek Road north to the district boundary has been closed since Aug. 5.   Highway 138 between Roseburg and Diamond Lake and Crater Lake remains open.  Slow down and be alert while passing through the fire area.  Copies of all closures and maps can be found at https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/closures/7758/  Overall Objective:  The Rough Complex and Jack fire area being managed under a full suppression strategy using containment and confinement tactics.  Leaders’ intent is to not allow the fire to progress to the west by using...

Lakeview, OR – The predicted weather change came into the area this evening which brought higher winds out of the west and is predicted to continue for the next couple of days. Both wildland and structural fire crews are working in unison to ensure the fire stays inside the established containment lines on the south and east sides of the Patton Meadow Fire. Due to the increased fire behavior and the change in weather, ODF Team 3 and OSFM Blue Team are aligned with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office’s decision to adjust the current evacuation levels. Lakeview, OR – Fire crews worked overnight to strengthen lines on the west and south sides of the Patton Meadow Fire. The expected wind shift out of the northeast did occur overnight with established containment lines holding.Today, crews will continue the work on the west and south sides of the fire to build containment. Small burnout operations are expected on the south end of the fire to eliminate fuels between containment lines and the fire’s interior. The north end of the fire is in steep and rocky terrain, making direct attack difficult. Contingency lines are being built further north in preparation for fire growth, while crews are working to identify areas where a more direct line can be constructed.The Willow Valley Fire, 16 miles south of Bonanza is still holding with no growth. Crews will continue constructing and strengthening containment lines today.OSFM structural Task Forces will be preparing for the change in weather today. Today will be a continuation of mop up and patrols with heavy equipment working on alternate containment lines. As operations are completed, resources are re-positioned to where they will be most effectively utilized on the complex. Some will be shifted to other locations associated with the Kwis Fire, and others will be re-located to aid in suppression efforts on the Gales or Ninemile Fires.
