Winter Weather Advisory issued March 18 at 1:50PM PDT until March 20 at 5:00PM PDT by NWS Portland OR
Two back-to-back winter systems will move over the region through
Saturday morning. The first will arrive late Wednesday through
Thursday. This system will bring snow to the Cascades and breezy
winds. The second system will arrive on Friday. This frontal passage
is warmer but will continue to be evaluated in regards to future
advisories or warnings.
* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations up to 11 inches.
* WHERE...South Washington Cascades.
* WHEN...From 5 PM Wednesday to 5 PM PDT Thursday.
* IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will
likely become slick and hazardous.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...There is around a 20% chance that snow
accumulation would exceed 12 inches at elevations above 4000 feet.
For this scenario to occur, colder air would need to be present
than what is forecast. This first system will be closely followed
by a second frontal system so there may be minimal break between
them.
