Red Flag Warning issued July 13 at 2:09AM PDT until July 13 at 8:00PM PDT by NWS Medford OR

July 13, 2024 - 2:09am
...Complex fire weather environment evolves this weekend... .Hot, dry and windy conditions will remain in place over most of Oregon today, although approaching monsoon moisture from the south will increase the threat of lightning across the forecast area this afternoon and evening. Storms will likely be on the drier side today given available moisture in the air. The threat for storms is higher on Sunday as the moisture content increases. ...FIRE WEATHER WATCH NOW IN EFFECT FROM SUNDAY MORNING THROUGH SUNDAY EVENING FOR ABUNDANT LIGHTNING ON DRY FUELS FOR FIRE WEATHER ZONES 624 AND 625... * IMPACTS...Given the recent prolonged stretch of very hot and very dry conditions, lightning efficiency will be high to very high for fire starts. Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. * AFFECTED AREA...For the Red Flag Warning today, critical conditions due to gusty winds and low RH are expected north of a line from Chiloquin to Paisley while lightning on dry fuels is expected south. * WIND...Southwest 15 to 25 with gusts to 25 and 35 mph. * HUMIDITY...7 to 12 percent. * THUNDERSTORMS...Isolated to scattered high based storms that are likely to have very little to no precipitation, especially outside of storm cores. Lightning strikes outside of precipitation cores are possible and cause for concern. * OUTFLOW WINDS...Gusts up to 35 mph. These outflow winds can travel up to 50 miles away from the thunderstorm that caused it. * ADDITIONAL INFORMATION...The best chance for storms will be Sunday afternoon into Sunday evening. Isolated dry thunderstorms are more likely today as the atmosphere appears to be very dry. * DETAILED URL...View the hazard area in detail at https://www.wrh.noaa.gov/map/?wfo=mfr Red Flag Warning 2024-07-13T02:09:00-07:00 2024-07-13T02:09:00-07:00 2024-07-13T14:00:00-07:00 2024-07-13T16:00:00-07:00 Actual Update Met Expected Severe Likely Klamath Basin and the Fremont-Winema National Forest; South Central Oregon Desert including the BLM Land in Eastern Lake and Western Harney Counties SAME 041035 SAME 041037 SAME 041025 UGC ORZ624 UGC ORZ625 AWIPSidentifier RFWMFR WMOidentifier WWUS86 KMFR 130909 NWSheadline RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 2 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 8 PM PDT THIS EVENING FOR STRONG GUSTY WIND AND LOW RH FOR NORTHERN FIRE WEATHER ZONES 624 AND 625 AND LIGHTNING ON DRY FUELS FOR SOUTHERN FIRE WEATHER ZONES 624 AND 625 BLOCKCHANNEL EAS BLOCKCHANNEL NWEM BLOCKCHANNEL CMAS VTEC /O.CON.KMFR.FW.W.0009.240713T2100Z-240714T0300Z/ eventEndingTime 2024-07-14T03:00:00+00:00

Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. * AFFECTED AREA...For the Red Flag Warning for Saturday, critical conditions due to gusty winds and low RH are expected north of a line from Chiloquin to Paisley while abundant lightning on dry fuels is expected south. * WIND...Southwest 15 to 25 with gusting 25 and 35 mph. * ADDITIONAL INFORMATION...The best chance for storms will be Saturday afternoon into Saturday evening, then again Sunday afternoon into Sunday evening. Isolated thunderstorms are possible late Saturday night into Sunday morning. * DETAILED URL...View the hazard area in detail at https://www.wrh.noaa.gov/map/?wfo=mfr Red Flag Warning 2024-07-12T19:48:00-07:00 2024-07-12T19:48:00-07:00 2024-07-13T14:00:00-07:00 2024-07-13T08:00:00-07:00 Actual Update Met Expected Severe Likely Klamath Basin and the Fremont-Winema National Forest; South Central Oregon Desert including the BLM Land in Eastern Lake and Western Harney Counties SAME 041035 SAME 041037 SAME 041025 UGC ORZ624 UGC ORZ625 AWIPSidentifier RFWMFR WMOidentifier WWUS86 KMFR 130248 NWSheadline RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 2 PM TO 8 PM PDT SATURDAY FOR STRONG GUSTY WIND AND LOW RH FOR NORTHERN FIRE WEATHER ZONES 624 AND 625 AND ABUNDANT LIGHTNING ON DRY FUELS FOR SOUTHERN FIRE WEATHER ZONES 624 AND 625 BLOCKCHANNEL EAS BLOCKCHANNEL NWEM BLOCKCHANNEL CMAS VTEC /O.CON.KMFR.FW.W.0009.240713T2100Z-240714T0300Z/ eventEndingTime 2024-07-14T03:00:00+00:00
