While impact to Stehekin has been minimal, there is still potential for the fire to grow and for smoke to affect air quality in the village and surrounding area throughout the season. Williams Flat Fire, Level 1 Evacuation Advisory The Level 1 evacuation advisory issued at noon today has been expanded. The northern boundary of the Level 1 evacuation zone has been moved three miles north. The new northern boundary begins where Little Nine Mile Creek crosses Nine Mile-Hellgate Road. If a straight line is drawn west from that location to Whitestone Lookout, all areas south of that line are within the Level 1 evacuation area. Little Nine Mile Creek crosses Nine Mile-Hellgate Road at section 16, Township 29 North, Range 35 East. A Level 1 evacuation notice is an advisory to “get ready” to evacuate in case the fire moves closer to homes. If you live within the affected area, it may be necessary to evacuate in the future. Please prepare medications, personal hygiene items, sleeping bags or bedding, vital records, and any other personal items you may need to take with you in case an evacuation is ordered. Devore Creek Fire Update August 06, 2019 – 9:00 a.m. Acres: 193 Location: 3 air miles southwest of Stehekin, WA Completion: Season-ending weather event Cause: Lightning Estimated Cost: $729,000 Report Date: July 26, 2019 (ignited by lightning storms that came through on July 23 and 24) Personnel: 83, including 2 hand crews, 3 helicopters, and 33 overhead personnel Current Activity: While temperatures could top 100 degrees in Chelan today and tomorrow, temperatures at the Devore Creek Fire, which is burning at much higher elevations, will be about 25 degrees cooler. The fire continues to slowly burn in the Devore Creek drainage, at elevations between 5,700 and 6,800 feet. Despite the cooler temperatures in the fire area, the potential for increased fire activity exists over the next two days, until even colder weather is predicted at the end of the week. The attached map shows the trails that are currently closed, both on the Okanogan Wenatchee National Forest and in Lake Chelan National Recreation Area, due to the Devore Creek Fire. On the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, Devore Creek Trail #1244, Company Creek Trail #1243, and Ten Mile Creek Trail #1241 are currently closed for public safety. Company Creek Trail is closed at the trailhead in Lake Chelan National Recreation Area. The Stehekin River Trail in Lake Chelan National Recreation Area is closed temporarily between Weaver Point and the Stehekin airstrip.

Left Hand Fire Final Update 08/04/2019 (Left Hand Fire Wildfire)
Current Activity: Today is the final daily update. Future updates will only be released if the situation changes significantly. Firefighters will continue to focus on mopping up the fire’s edge, removing excess equipment and supplies, and repairing the effects of the suppression effort on the landscape. A helicopter is available to assist with bucket drops should that be necessary. The weather over the fire area is expected to be hot and dry over the next three days, with decreasing relative humidity, but slight winds are also predicted. There is no growth expected on the fire, but unburned pockets of fuel on the interior will continue to smolder and produce light smoke periodically.
