Green Ridge Fire Update August 30 (Green Ridge Wildfire)

Camp Sherman, Ore. –  Containment lines surrounding the Green Ridge Fire passed the wind test Saturday afternoon, holding the fire in place with no reported spot fires. The fire remains 4,338 acres in size and is now 60 percent contained. The forecasted Red Flag Warning produced sustained winds up to 18 mph and gusts of 25 mph, but had little effect on the fire. Twenty-one 20-person fire crews will continue to grid for and mop up hot spots as much as 75 feet into the fire’s perimeter. The Deschutes National Forest Area Closure remains in place while FS Road 14 and associated campgrounds remain open.  Update-Sunday August 30, 2020For Immediate ReleaseIncident Commander: Eric Knerr, Northwest Team 7Fire Information: 971-277-5075Warm Springs, Oregon - This update is for the P-515 Fire and Lionshead Fire burning on the Warm Springs Reservation.  Both fires are being managed for full suppression.Current Situation: The P-515 Fire is 4,609 acres and 80% contained.  Yesterday, mop up operations on the P-515 Fire continued with no spot fires observed outside of the perimeter. The Lionshead Fire is now 6,611 acres and 20% contained.  Throughout the afternoon and evening yesterday fire behavior was very active, testing fire lines, as anticipated, with wind gusts reaching 50 mph on Lionshead Peak. The fire crossed the established fire line near Camp Creek Butte, then made a run and spotted to the southeast. Crews along the southern flank were temporarily withdrawn as a safety precaution. Smoke Outlook for August 30/31 (White River Wildfire)

A Red Flag Warning will be in effect from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. for a dry cold front passage in the fire area. Yesterday air quality monitors recorded "good" conditions in the forecast area. West winds over the fire area should move smoke to the east. Smoke models show impacts from smoke to be local and southeast of the White River Fire.

Yield to fire vehicles where possible and avoid distracted driving. The Rattlesnake Fire is burning in the Wenaha-Tucannon Wilderness on the Pomeroy Ranger District in Washington. It is located approximately twenty miles south of Pomeroy and thirteen miles southeast of Dayton. The fire remains at approximately 485 acres and has been burning in the same footprint for several days.  It is burning in a fifteen-year old fire scar which left a mosaic of vegetation.  The anticipated cold front brought westerly winds with gusts as high as 25 to 35 mph on the fire area on Saturday. Evening Fire Update (White River Wildfire)

Predicted winds pushed the fire toward the east today, resulting in changes to evacuation levels.  No structures were lost.  Firefighters were supported by helicopters as they provided structure protection.  Elsewhere on the fire perimeter, firefighters worked to hold the fire within containment line.  Residents are encouraged to sign-up for Wasco County Citizen Alerts at https://member.everbridge.net/453003085612392/login.

The increase in acreage reported today is the result of precise data being available, not fire growth.
