Carpenter Road Fire Update PM 9-10-2015 (Carpenter Road Fire Wildfire)
Current Situation: The Carpenter Road Fire remains at 65,068 acres and is 90% contained. Repair to perimeter and alternate fire lines continued on all areas of the Carpenter Road Fie. Crews are conducting repair work and are expanding mop up operations while adhering to agency guidelines. Firefighters are focused on the miles of suppression repair on the fire including constructing water bars and employing actions to control runoff and soil erosion. Heavy equipment will continue to assist firefighters. As the warming and drying trend progresses this week, smoke will be visible as fuels dry out and continue to burn. Tomorrow will be the warmest forecast day with highs reaching near 87 degrees. The public is asked to refrain from going near the fire area on secondary roads for public and firefighter safety. Fire Update - Thursday, September 10, 2015 - 9:00 a.m. Wolverine: Three crews, sixty fire fighters in all, will be hiking into the high country today to complete work on fire lines that had been started earlier. These lines are closest to the area of greatest fire activity, above the Three Creek drainage. Helicopters made bucket drops yesterday in the Three Creek drainage to cool the fire’s edge. Helicopters are available again today to douse hot spots which may not be accessible on the ground. First Creek: Crews will continue to patrol and look for any remaining hot spots. Working with local resource advisors, personnel are beginning the process of repairing fire suppression impacts to the land. Containment lines around the fire are being kept intact, but lines inside the perimeter may be repaired to better prevent erosion. A current update on the Carpenter Road Fire will be given and an opportunity to ask questions will be provided. Please come join us. Current Situation: The Carpenter Road Fire remains approximately 65,068 acres and is 90% contained. Firefighters have a large amount of repair work to complete to meet agency standards on the Carpenter Road Fire. The public is asked to refrain from going near the fire area on secondary roads for public and firefighter safety. Although no formal closure has been issued, the repair process around the perimeter includes snag falling operations and heavy equipment moving along roads throughout the day. Carpenter Road Fire Update PM 9-9-2015 (Carpenter Road Fire Wildfire)
A Community Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, September 10th, 6:00 PM in Valley at the Valley School. A current update on the Carpenter Road Fire will be given and an opportunity to ask questions will be provided. Please come join us. Current Situation: The Carpenter Road Fire remains estimated at 65,068 acres and is 90% contained. Work to repair alternate containment line is ongoing. Alternate dozer lines and hand lines are repaired by pulling berms (edges) and installing water bars. Water bars are being installed to divert run off water along fire lines on steep slopes, and off of roads that were opened for fire suppression. Crews are systematically patrolling in lined patterns (gridding) to search for and suppress hot spots. Hand held infrared cameras are being used to detect heat along the perimeter of the fire and near structures. Alder Lake Fire Update Date: September 8, 2015 Phone: 360-496-5429 The Alder Lake Fire was ignited by lightning and first reported on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 in very steep inaccessible terrain with heavy dead and down fuel loading. The Gifford Pinchot National Forest, in coordination with the Washington State Department of Natural Resources, is currently managing the fire that is approximately 4 miles East of Elbe, Washington on the south side of Alder Lake. Road closures are in effect for the 74 and 7409 roads and the area of fire containment and need to be followed. See attached map and closure order for specifics. Columbia Cascade Type 3 Incident Management Team is currently assigned to the fire, and will be transitioning to a Type 4 Incident Management Team on Wednesday. The fire is 280 acres, 17% contained, with 111 personnel working on the incident.
