The closure around the Indian Creek Fire has been expanded to include areas around the Eagle Creek Fire. Due to extreme fire behavior and rapid fire growth, the most recent closure is no longer adequate to protect the public. There are extensive evacuations and road closures along the Columbia River Gorge. I-84 is closed from Troutdale to Hood River. This is a dynamic situation. All lanes of Interstate 84 remain closed from Troutdale (Exit 17) to 2 miles west of Hood River (MP 62). SR-14 is closed to commercial traffic in both directions, but open to passenger vehicles. Bridge of the Gods is closed. SR-14 is extremely congested in both directions, please travel only if necessary. The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office has increased evacuation levels to the following: Level 3 (Go!) for Larch Mountain and the communities of Latourell, Bridal Veil, Dodson, Warrendale, and East Corbett. Best Alternate Routes for Traveling to Crater Lake From Interstate 5 traveling north via Northern California: Take exit 40 at Gold Hill and follow Route 234 east to the village of “Trail”. At Trail, follow Route 62, following signs to Crater Lake. From Interstate 5 traveling south via Roseburg and Eugene, OR: Take exit 99 at Canyonville and follow Route 227 south to the village of “Trail”. At Trail, take Route 62, following signs to Crater Lake. From Route 138 at the Closure: Follow 138 back west to Roseburg, then take Interstate 5 south to exit 99 and follow the directions above. Do not follow Routes 78 east or 23 north in an attempt to connect to roads north of Crater Lake, unless you are extremely familiar with the Forest. Eagle Creek Fire was less active overnight than the previous night and is now an estimated 3200 acres. It is holding at the same position as last night, roughly a quarter mile from the town of Cascade Locks. Structure protection remains in place. Evacuation levels remain the same as yesterday: Level 3 Evacuations: 283 structures, including 15 businesses, near Cascade Locks. Level 2 Evacuations: 118 structures, including 10 businesses. Level 1 Evacuations: 200 structures, including 4 businesses. The fire moved closer to Eagle Creek Trailhead within the Eagle Creek drainage and over Buck Point, towards the historic Eagle Creek Campground.
